| Community Tasting Notes (average 86.5 pts. and median of 87 pts. in 21 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by swade on 4/21/2020 & rated 78 points: I have had a lot of good bottles of Buehler wine, including their zins. I am a fan. I didn’t enjoy this at all. There was no subtlety or nuance. This tasted like heated/burned prune juice, with a grapey finish. Overdone and I would go so far as to say poorly judged. Not fresh. Needs acid. Unbalanced. I couldn’t finish. Pass. 78 (494 views) | | Tasted by pdbender on 2/10/2019 & rated 83 points: Fresh and vibrant from the start - mild mannered, subtle fruit nose without much revelry or ostentation. It's basically a simple, Napa zin from a above average vintage that should have some more punch and vigor. Im satisfied with it, though, and am not going to complaim and argue semantics. Just let it go with a sub-average score. so be it. (696 views) | | Tasted by Boivipt603 on 5/4/2018 & rated 88 points: Soft tannins, plum flavors, lingering flavor, best when first opened. Good price. Good value for the taste. (1139 views) | | Tasted by Boivipt603 on 2/25/2018 & rated 86 points: Sharp taste zin. Very dry. Bold. Enjoyable. (1192 views) | | Tasted by callmeacab22 on 12/2/2017 & rated 89 points: Definitely my style of Zin. Big without being over the top, nice color and nose, with softer tannins and lingering flavors. Would buy again. Very nice price point. (1392 views) | | Tasted by Pettyus on 11/23/2017 & rated 87 points: A lot of fruit. Not complex. Very clean finish. (1172 views) | | Tasted by LEEJV123 on 5/10/2017 & rated 88 points: Medium body, fruity (1480 views) | | Tasted by tsdv on 3/19/2017 & rated 84 points: Pretty good, nice for one glass, but after a few it loses its appeal (as most zins do for me). (1232 views) | | Tasted by Ben Christiansen on 9/8/2016: So truly old vine zinfandel. They figured out after planting that about 5% of it is Petite. They buy a little bit of Flora Springs as well because there is a brother in law relationship there. Black fruit and kinda brambly, smells like a Napa zinfandel. And tastes like it too with some black fruit... Hmm... Napa anit Zin country is what I am thinking. (1589 views) | | Tasted by Mossrose on 8/15/2016 & rated 91 points: A distinctive fruit lover's Zin, focused on capturing the pure, bright, fruit forward, juicy, delicious side of this grape, versus being raisiny sweet, hugely alcoholic, or the biggest and jammiest possible wine. Refreshing acidity and non-grippy tannin complete the structure framing that wonderful fruit. Includes about 5% Petite Sirah and some non-estate Zin. (10 views) | | Tasted by tomoem on 6/12/2016 & rated 86 points: Had at my brother-in law's 80th party among a variety of lower priced wines most between $ 17.00 & $ 25.00. I am recording my tasting notes from these. First are my tasting notes then is the listing of the wines opened. We also popped a 1936 Vega Siciliano !
Tasting Note: For a zinfandel it was not very aromatic however it did deliver mild notes of plum, with an interesting spice finish. I think these are well made but lack the punch that make me a fan. Mild at best for a Zin. (1312 views) |
| Buehler Vineyards Producer websiteZinfandel ZAP: Zinfandel Advocates & Producers | Varietal character (Appellation America) | Wikipedia-ZinfandelUSAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Napa Valley Napa Valley Wineries and Wine (Napa Valley Vintners)Napa ValleySt. Helena |
