| Community Tasting Notes (average 91.9 pts. and median of 92 pts. in 14 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by mphatic on 3/1/2022: Screwcap, 14.5% alc. Youthful, dark, burgundy colour with quite a lot of purple. Very fine sediment.
Interesting nose of malty oak, licorice, blackberry, pan juices, a tiny hint of Band-Aid? Plum, coal.
Medium bodied with fine dusty tannins still plentiful. Fresh and refreshing, and the high alcohol is nowhere to be seen. Fruity and savoury at once; a very good food wine.
Opinion: I tend to think of this as a cheap wine that’s taking up room in the cellar, but every time I open one, I’m rewarded. Quality GSM blend. Some over–ripe/baked flavours after three days open, but still enjoyable. Heavy bottle! (223 views) | | Tasted by Bluth on 2/1/2021 & rated 92 points: Great red blend with really balanced nose and palate. (701 views) | | Tasted by mphatic on 9/12/2020: Screwcap, 14.5% alc. Beautiful and vibrant dark crimson with purple hue.
Coal, blackberry, pan juices, raspberry, sarsaparilla, spicy oak, and a slight green herbal note; rather savoury.
Wonderfully composed and balanced palate; all in harmony. Fine tannins, oak, fruit, and acid all in balance. Even better with air. Opinion: Really lovely wine; surprisingly so. Time has already given this a savoury edge. Not sure what additional extended ageing would achieve. Drink now through 5 years. (556 views) | | Tasted by StewartWent on 12/10/2019 & rated 89 points: A very nice example of the BV workhorse. Smart, balanced and I can state elegant (in a ripe kinda way). Would not have picked as South Australian. Time has helped smooth edges I think. Drink now. (892 views) | | Tasted by Derek Darth Taster on 5/28/2017 & rated 91 points: Day 3 lunch company cruise. Screw-cap. Appearance is clear, deep intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Nose is clean, pronounced intensity, with aromas of blackberry, blueberry, dark chocolate, sweet spices. Developing. On the palate, dry, medium+ acidity, high alcohol (14.5%), soft amd smooth medium+ tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of blueberry, blackberry, dark chocolate, licorice, black pepper. Long finisblh. Very good quality. Reliable wine from a reliable producer. Old vine Grenache, Shiraz, Mataro. Drink and enjoy over the next 3-4 years as it ages. No need to wait too long. (2046 views) | | Tasted by GAT on 10/30/2016 & rated 90 points: Lovely red wine, strong on all criteria. Full-bodies yet soft and well balanced with strong fruit, nice oak and the right acid level. (1671 views) | | Tasted by Bouddi26 on 8/29/2016 & rated 92 points: Dark ruby red colour. The nose is of mellow and soft red fruits. Great mouthfeel, showing full body but smooth and round with a lushes long finish. This is a big wine but is fine and elegant. Please decant and allow to breath to be fully rewarded. (1585 views) | | Tasted by chatters on 6/19/2016: Game of Rhones (Carriageworks, Redfern): bit reductive, meaty…chewy tannins, not much else going on here for me. (2192 views) | | Tasted by graemeg on 2/13/2015: {screwcap, 14.5%} Deep garnet. Super fruity nose; peppermint, jam, chocolate dipped raspberries. Also, it smells sweet. Is that possible? The palate has a lot of ripe fruit and not much other structure; minty/chocolate flavours, with sweet grenache jam; starts to hint at over-ripeness, and there's a certain alcoholic warmth on the palate which rather overwhelms the discreet tannins and low acid. It's not appreciably oaky, just seems to have 'too much grenache'. Maybe for me. It's also absurdly young; I'm sure a couple of years will help the cause. As it is it's a bit simple, albeit full of flavour. (1673 views) | | Tasted by Drinking Trees on 10/17/2014: Nose of sarsaparilla, cumin, and pepper. Medium-bodied palate with grainy tannins and big flavours of blackcurrant, liquorice, rhubarb, and prune. (824 views) |
| Teusner Producer websiteRed Rhone Blend Read about the different grapes used to produce red and white Rhone wines On CellarTracker, Red Rhone Blend is the term for a wine consisting of two or more of the traditional 13 Southern Rhone grape varieties. Typically it's the Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre or Cinsault grapes, but can also contain the Muscardin, Counoise, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Picpoul, Roussanne, Terret Noir, Picardan or Vaccarese grapes.
A 'food' wine. Lacking pretension and intended for local consumption with local cuisine. Lacks the 'high' notes on a Bordeaux, more earthy and sharper so often a better partner to meat dishes with a sauce.
