Community Tasting Notes (average 91.2 pts. and median of 91 pts. in 75 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by DoubleMagnum on 4/13/2024 & rated 91 points: Medium lemon in color. Reductive nose. Some citrus and wet stones on the nose. High acid, medium extract. Shortish finish. Good, but not very exciting. (306 views)
Tasted by wineton.mee on 3/6/2024 & rated 91 points: Pale lemon hues, very youthful without much development at all. Flinty, lemon, steely and mineral, has that nice saline aftertaste propped up by good acidity. A good Bourgogne at the village quality level. Perfect for hump day sustenance. (488 views)
Tasted by chablis28 on 12/29/2023 & rated 93 points: Old Guys Potluck Holiday Lunch at Lonny's. I drank through 4 of these myself plus 3 more buddy btls and I'm still in love w/ this classic Chardonnay! I paid $23 for the '02 on release locally many, many moons ago & grabbed 4 of the 13s for $45 on release. My ongoing takeaway, grab any Bourgogne level you find from top producers like Roulot till eventually become overpriced. '13 wasn't a rave year but drinks better than anyone might expect. Especially in the hands of one of Burgundy's White-Burgundy masters like Roulot!! Very few can afford Roulot's otherworldly Perrieres but many of us can still spurge for the $100+ Bourgogne. Its plain white label won't impress anyone but what's in the btl will delight many an admirer of classic old-world Chardonnay! Super glad a btl or two of the '13 is still bouncing around in my buddy Kevin's cellar! Bravo! 93+ (654 views)
Tasted by MN Wine Junkie on 12/29/2023 & rated 92 points: Old guys luncheon (Lonny's Manor): Very nice Chardonnay showing lots of pear, stone fruit and citrus with a nice dose of limestone and flint. Very Burgundian (obviously!) but by that I mean no big fruit or oak treatment, and shows off the limestone terroir. Drinking quite well at 10 years old! (and showing no signs of heading downhill) Definitely drinks much better than its release price, but not as well as its current WS price of $250. Solid 92 for my palate. (544 views)
Tasted by rocknroller on 12/29/2023 & rated 93 points: OG Lunch - Holiday Party (Lonny's Place, Mpls): Pale gold color. Drank a glass over 30 minutes plus. Last bottle and still going strong. This is really drinking well, modest reduction now, steely minerality and lemon-lime fruits, brine, peach, gunflint, spice, good depth and length. Love it, going out strong. (542 views)
Tasted by mdefreitas on 11/23/2022 & rated 93 points: This shows some maturity, with bruised apple and pear fruit notes. Some reduction, but the match stick notes were note too distracting. Nice clove notes, with crisp acidity and a lengthy saline finish. This is in a nice spot, show some maturity but still lifted with refreshing structure. (905 views)
Tasted by rocknroller on 10/1/2022 & rated 93 points: Pale gold color. Drank 2 glasses over 90 minutes. Gunflint, Meyer lemon, peach, with limestone minerality on the bold nose. The palate is shows briny white citrus, with a resonant core of minerality, excellent cut and verve, peach, Meyer lemon, matchstick, medium plus length. Delicious. 92+ to 93pts. (1098 views)
Tasted by gzim on 8/2/2022 & rated 92 points: Brought to an offline to share with other wine geeks. Pop n poured , a little flinty with very nice white fruits and minerality . One of the best white bourgognes I’ve had.
A little light on the finish, but the palate punched above its pedigree. (1048 views)
Tasted by llink on 7/6/2022 & rated 88 points: P NP. Pale yellow color. Rich nose, spice, flint/just struck match and lemon. Really nice nose. Palate is ripe, with open knit lemon fruit and a juicy texture. Not much cut or complexity, but really well done for a BB.

Revisiting the last half after 1 month, in the refrigerator sealed and vacu vin. Comparing to the 2010 Roulot BB. The nose is still citrus and flint. Palate is richer and rounder, less juicy but still holding up extremely well. (1157 views)
Tasted by Philolesen on 4/4/2022 & rated 91 points: Nice bourgogne Blanc. Quite complex with white fruits, very good minerality and some citrus creamy component in the mouthfeel which suits it very well. Perfect drinking window now.
Tasted together with the joint venture of Chacra with their Chardonnay.
Would drink now and the next 3-5 years. (836 views)
Tasted by Tubulus on 9/12/2021: The first sip is like rainwater cascading off a waterfall. The midpalate picks up a hint of oak and flint, just enough to add a dimension of complexity without being at all overwhelming (unlike shortly after release). The finish has great acid, no bitterness or heat. Really in a perfect spot right now, maybe not "better" but more in the zone than any white burg I've had this year. (1542 views)
Tasted by hajoha on 4/4/2021 & rated 91 points: Domaine Roulot BB 2013.
Bra lengde i finish.
Dette er topp BB, som glatt takler flere år i kjelleren. 91p (1860 views)
Tasted by SophieR on 2/6/2021 & rated 93 points: So wonderful, and, I suspect, a wine that is nearing the end of a glorious lifespan, a moment I cherish in Burgundies, the most ethereal of wines. This bottle possessed glowing acidity plus the slightest hint of madierization lingering in the background, adding (to my taste) a distinctive dimension. I recommend consuming your final bottle while watching The Dying Swan, a solo ballet number that is much too brief, like the lifespan of a Bourgogne Blanc. Drink this wine soon, if you have it, because I fear the curtain is soon to come down. (1740 views)
Tasted by JHSP on 6/11/2020 & rated 91 points: Remains one of the best bb producers - still super fresh and sharp. Balanced acidity and fruit. Very good complexity for a „simple“ BB. Will last ! (2028 views)
Tasted by rocknroller on 1/25/2020 & rated 93 points: Making the Most of Dinner Without Dad (Rocknroller's (Kevin & Vicki's Place)): V ery pale gold color. Drank a glass over an hour. Fully opens after 20 minutes in glass. Dang these are great, and I'm glad I've got some left. Lemon, toasted oak barrels, saline and wet stone, amazing intensity, gripping, tart lemon, very crisp acid, poised and elegant. Drinks so far above its level. (2822 views)
Tasted by chablis28 on 1/18/2020 & rated 93 points: Killer white Burgundy from one of the top 2 or 3 producers in Burgundy. Its cool that this is labeled Bourgogne but it performs more like top Ler Cru Meursault. Unbelievable mouth coating concentration with layers of minerality, tart lemon citrus, orange peel and spice. Just enough softer stone fruit notes to buffer the tart lemon. Stunning purity, balance and elegance for the designation. Label says 12% flat Alc which is great in this day and age. Last of my 3 btls. Its been fun to drink mine and share other btls with my buddies. Hopefully this cuvee doesn't get out of reach. Only Roulot I can still, semi afford. 93pts+ (2318 views)
Tasted by Aravind Asok on 8/25/2019: Notes from Day 2 open. Just fantastic. On the nose: struck match intensity, lemon oil, a touch of coconut, wet stone minerality. Lovely. On the palate, intense acidity, maybe slightly green tinged lemon and guava. Vibrant finish, with good density. A treat. (2385 views)
Tasted by redwhiteandrich on 6/25/2019 & rated 91 points: Best on day two. Ordered the aligote as it was in my budget, got sent the bourgogne blanc. Talk about upgrade. (2057 views)
Tasted by rocknroller on 3/28/2019 & rated 93 points: WTDS at Spoon (Spoon & Stable, Mpls, MN): Light medium gold color. Drank a glass plus over an hour plus. This gets better every time I taste it. If this isn't the best BB out there, it has to be close. Excellent brine on the nose, complex citrus notes, mandarin orange, fennel seed, lovely oak notes. The palate has a tart almost spritzy, tangy excitement to it, lifted, driven, citrus, mandarin orange, well framed oak, saline. This was seamless and harmonious with excellent persistence. Loved this and where its going. No rush at all. 93+pts or better. (2350 views)
Tasted by NoTrollingerPlease on 12/27/2018 & rated 90 points: Asperg Wine Syndrome Tasting Group: X-Mas Tasting 2018: Tasted blind. Popped and poured. Clear, medium lemon-golden color. Clean, medium intense, developing nose, at first with some burnt rubber and other reductive notes, then more yellow and green fruit and some slight oak notes.
Bone dry, medium acidity that seems to me a bit unripe or artificial. Only 12,0% abv. On the palate very lean and uncomplicated with some herbs, citrus fruit, some vegetables, slight mineral core and oak only noticeable as a fine structure. Medium finish. Needs air and probably some more time. Don’t get the fuzz about this wine though. 90+ (2118 views)
Tasted by chablis28 on 8/1/2018 & rated 93 points: Another stellar btl. Just repeating my thoughts from a couple months ago as little has changed. Even in a so so Burg vintage like 2013, this rocks! Proving, in Burgundy, producer matters. This has mouthcoating layers of; citrus, topical, spice and stunning minerality. Concentration, purity, elegance and zip all in one excellent "Bourgogne" that drinks more like Meursault 1er Cru. Long since no longer a steal as virtually every serious wine drinker on the planet knows about Roulot but, even at todays nutty price, this wine delivers something special. (3158 views)
Tasted by Aravind Asok on 6/26/2018: On the nose, a touch of struck-match intensity, followed by coconut, lemon oil, and what I can only describe as liquified gravel. On the palate, the intensity is astounding for a BB: more pure lemon oil, crushed rocks, amazing acidity while suggesting a mineral oil-like consistency and a long mineral finish. This does not drink like BB: it's been said before, but this has the intensity of Meursault 1er from many other producers.

Day 2: this seems even more concentrated today, if that's even possible. This is easily in the same class, say for intensity of flavor, as the Dancer Meursault Corbins I had recently. (2349 views)
Tasted by B Paul on 6/10/2018: Been about a year since I’ve had this wine. Notes similar to prior bottles, though this is probably the best showing thus far. Delicious and drinking really well at the moment. (2297 views)

Happy to own a couple of these and perfectly willing to keep drinking Lonny's! Thanks Lonny! 93+/94- (2763 views)

Burgundy

Les vins de Bourgogne (Bureau interprofessionnel des vins de Bourgogne) (and in English)

Burgundy - The province of eastern France, famous for its red wines produced from Pinot Noir and its whites produced from Chardonnay. (Small of amounts of Gamay and Aligoté are still grown, although these have to be labeled differently.) The most famous part of the region is known as the Cote d'Or (the Golden Slope). It is divided into the Cote de Beaune, south of the town of Beaune (famous principally for its whites), and the Cote de Nuits, North of Beaune (home of the most famous reds). In addition, the Cote Chalonnaise and the Maconnais are important wine growing regions, although historically a clear level (or more) below the Cote d'Or. Also included by some are the regions of Chablis and Auxerrois, farther north.

# 2013 Vintage Notes:
* "2013 is a vintage that 20 years ago would have been a disaster." - Will Lyons
* "low yields and highly variable reds, much better whites." - Bill Nanson
* "Virtually all wines were chaptalised, with a bit of sugar added before fermentation to increase the final alcohol level." - Jancis Robinson

# 2014 Vintage Notes:
"We have not had such splendid harvest weather for many years. This will ensure high quality (fragrant, classy and succulent are words already being used) across the board, up and down the hierarchy and well as consistently from south to north geographically apart from those vineyards ravaged by the hail at the end of June." - Clive Coates

# 2015 Vintage Notes:
"Low yields and warm weather allowed for ample ripeness, small berries and an early harvest. Quality is looking extremely fine, with some people whispering comparisons with the outstanding 2005 vintage. Acid levels in individual wines may be crucial." - Jancis Robinson

# 2017 Vintage Notes:
"Chablis suffered greatly from frost in 2017, resulting in very reduced volumes. As ever, the irony seems to be that what remains is very good quality, as it is in the Côte d’Or. Cooler nights across the region have resulted in higher-than-usual acidity, with good conditions throughout the harvest season allowing for ripe, healthy fruit." - Jancis Robinson

# 2018 Vintage Notes:
"The most successful region for red Burgundy in 2018 was the Côte de Beaune. The weather was ideal in this area, with just enough sunlight and rain to produce perfectly balanced wines naturally." - Vinfolio
