Tasted by jemannix on 6/27/2021: Peppery and Delicious as expected. (1093 views)
Tasted by BArice on 1/23/2021 & rated 90 points: Still tastes great. Not getting any better and I suggest to drink up if you have any left. (1187 views)
Tasted by sweez1 on 7/19/2020 & rated 88 points: Smooth, rich with full body. Tasted better with a bit of chill. (1302 views)
Tasted by Ralphie1 on 3/23/2020 & rated 91 points: Nice big wine. Has a lot of life left. Huge fruit. (959 views)
Tasted by DbertCellar on 12/25/2019 & rated 90 points: Chocolate covered cherry aromas, the wine is very smooth, and a little bit spicy. A small amount of tannin left. (882 views)
Tasted by pgrzesik on 1/25/2019 & rated 86 points: Typical Orin swift type of wine. Lots of alcohol at 15.9%, heat, and some notes of vanilla. The alcohol is overpowering as it usually is in all of his wines. Though was a crowd favorite. Would not buy in the future. (1309 views)
Tasted by AllRed on 5/27/2018 & rated 90 points: 40th Annual Zinfandel Retrospective - the 2013s (R&Ds): Blind. Raspberry and pepper notes with a gamy/meaty note too. Meaty, with dark zin fruit underneath that follows through on the palate.

My #4, Domino's #8
Group #1, 31 pts (1990 views)
Tasted by tomoem on 11/22/2017 & rated 91 points: A well produced and creamy textured Zinfandel. There are aromas of mushroom and earth and flavors that match. Blueberry, and some asphalt in the mid palette. I think it is a good example of modern Zin.

The producer is known for big quantities and I think they do a very exceptional job at producing consistent wine. You cannot go wrong with this wine given the price point. (2040 views)
Tasted by DugyDog on 7/12/2017 & rated 92 points: Surprisingly delicious and drinkable zin despite the 15.9% alcohol level. Juicy, dark and spicy/pepper. Nice (2570 views)
Tasted by Rno on 3/5/2017 & rated 92 points: A Zinfandel that doesn't overwhelm your pallet but it's very satisfying. (2890 views)
Tasted by VAD on 2/5/2017 & rated 89 points: A nice Zin. Good fruit. Not a long finish. Very smooth. (2763 views)
Tasted by IPT on 2/4/2017 & rated 90 points: Color: dark plum hues. No translucency.
Nose: blackberries, black licorice, and sweetened plums, spice, and smoked hickory.
Flavor: blackberries, sweet black licorice, cherry, toasted oak and vanilla on the forward. Middle reinforces the spice behind the fruit along with a nice tannin presence. Heat of the bottle shows a bit but doesn't overcome. Finish is smooth with a long linger. Full bodied.

This is a rather intriguing Zin - definitely stands out among the countless bottles on the shelf. Most certainly a fruit bomb, but with a lot of other characteristics that produces a nuanced and delicious flavor profile throughout. Excellent overall - great QPR. Fully intent to purchase another three bottles (at least) and just sit on them for a few years. This is a good bottle for the serious Zin lovers out there. Interestingly enough, the bottle sat out the entire night without being bottled, and after over 12 hours of airing, tried again this evening, and the bottle improved. So recommendation would be to let air for a good 6 hours at least if you want to really get the most of this bottle. Drink now or let sit in your cellar for another four or so years. (2345 views)
Tasted by ruppdavey@yahoo.com on 1/17/2017 & rated 88 points: - Violet color with medium forming legs and aromas of strawberry jam. It's somewhat balanced and has flavours of strawberry jam and fig with a medium body. Juicy texture with a medium finish. (2164 views)
Tasted by alaskanick on 10/26/2016 & rated 86 points: I expected a lot more (2110 views)
Tasted by Dionysusx on 7/9/2016 & rated 93 points: Very bright, fruit forward loaded with jammy goodness. Smooth and easy-going (2151 views)
Tasted by cavedivr on 7/1/2016 & rated 90 points: Fruity and sweet on the start. A bit of bitterness on the finish. Tannins lacking. A bit of acidity. (2097 views)
Tasted by Chucksw on 6/2/2016 & rated 94 points: Enjoyed with Italian sausage, bell peppers, pasta and garlic bread. Full smooth flavor at opening. Improved over next 3 hours. Extremely versatile. Have tried this with several different dishes and never been disappointed. (2279 views)
Tasted by vandal16 on 5/29/2016: Big Fruit and vanilla flavors. (1833 views)
Tasted by JohnnyShiraz on 5/22/2016 & rated 88 points: 15.9% ABV.

Very ordinary. Even with the addition of Petite Sirah and Syrah to this Zin, it was still nothing special.

I would open this wine is 2017 so that the tannins are completely smooth. (1686 views)
Tasted by mjm226 on 5/5/2016 & rated 89 points: Opened my 2nd bottle - decanted for one hour. Really enjoyed this bottle a lot more than the first. Dried fig, toasted coffee and earthy aromas up front. Very dark with medium finish. Great QPR. Will pick up a few more bottles to evaluate further. (1566 views)
Tasted by barryjahan on 3/23/2016: Earthy aromas, tobacco flavors. (1967 views)
Tasted by rjonwine@gmail.com on 3/19/2016 & rated 89 points: Very dark ruby color; aromatic, sweet coffee, coffee syrup, dried fig nose; medium bodied, dried fig, coffee syrup, baked fig palate; needs 1 year; medium-plus finish (85% Zinfandel, 9% Petite Sirah, 6% Syrah) (514 views)
Tasted by Zoomin Z on 2/27/2016 & rated 92 points: A very rich, heavy, port-like wine - there are no signs of any restraint in the making of this bomb. Red cherries and spices on a fruity nose. Dense, jammy sweet fruit leading to a long, smooth, moderately peppery finish. Great counterpoint to a roasted lamb shank. Potent on the high alcohol side, too; be careful out there. (2099 views)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
