| Community Tasting Notes (average 88.5 pts. and median of 88 pts. in 7 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by Burgundy Al on 6/12/2016 flawed bottle: Completely oxidized, which surprised me. Bought 15 years ago and stored well since, this was very enjoyable when last opened a decade ago. (1594 views) | | Tasted by christophee on 11/18/2012 & rated 89 points: Brown syrup in the glass. Nose of cobbler, citrus, honey, canned pear, flint, cinnamon and lychee. Med-lite body with smoked peach, honey, canned pear, tangerine, earth and cinnamon on the palate. Secondary brown sugar and brûlée. Med-short finish. Decent acidity and minerals, but not enough structure to hold its gooey, bordering on cloying, fruit. (2001 views) | | Tasted by cfe on 1/15/2011: Bright gold. Aged, total mineral and beyond petrol aromas, a bit shy at first, but became more pronounced as it warmed up a bit. Palate is quite delicate, lighter then medium weight, and all minerals. Cerebral, rather than hedonistic. Medium finish. (2254 views) | | Tasted by dbkitc on 5/7/2006: (at Abacrombie – Baltimore) – deep golden but not oily. Initial cheesy nose. This blows off after 5 minutes to reveal intoxicating tangerine and apricot aromas. Deep, mature, complex, captivating. The palate is dry, but there is so much Riesling extract that the wine is a perfect balance of sweet fruit, secondary notes, balancing structure. I am really impressed and will need to go back to the cellar to see if I can find more. Glorious!!!!! I don’t know how an Alsatian wine could provide more pleasure (20) (2777 views) | | Tasted by Burgundy Al on 2/21/2003 & rated 90 points: Subdued tone fruit aromas to start. Palate begins with prominent acidity and minerality with peach and apricot flavors soon unfolding. High acid. Bone dry. Needs more time. (2427 views) |
