Community Tasting Notes (average 89.2 pts. and median of 90 pts. in 50 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by VinVet on 10/1/2021 & rated 88 points: Light fresh citrus nose. Tart citrus fruit with excellent acidity and minerality. Mid length clean finish. (516 views)
Tasted by MagicMNJ on 9/19/2020 & rated 88 points: Past its prime (937 views)
Tasted by battytaxicab on 11/27/2018 & rated 90 points: Bright and fresh with citrus note. Crisp, dry and steely. Very good value. (1262 views)
Tasted by fred o. on 11/10/2018: light golden color. Nose lightly smoky/light reduction. Palate oily texture, orange fruit acidity, light cream richness on body. Very nice especially for the tariff. 90 pts (1371 views)
Tasted by ESTEELE90 on 7/11/2018: 2hr Audoze. Pours a medium straw yellow in the glass. Nose and palate are showing a bit oak heavy this time around with plenty of clove and allspice sitting atop sour lemon, bittersweet pineapple, passionfruit, golden crisp apples, and flinty minerals. Midpalate is full and round with great texture thanks to the oak and ripe tropical fruits. Racy acid comes through to sweep up the oaky mess and drive this to a medium finish that is all mineral and citrus. Nice, but I've enjoyed the previous bottles of this a bit more than this one. (1754 views)
Tasted by ESTEELE90 on 6/6/2018: Audozed for 3 hours. Pours a medium straw color in the glass. Nose and palate are expressive showing ripe/tart pineapple, bitter lemon, sweet red apples, vanilla and cloves, and a very distinct saline note that is at once chalky and creamy. Midpalate is very racy with bright acids and a sweet rush of pineapple gummy bears. Finish is medium with good spice, minerals and acid. It keeps driving at the end cutting through a fatty cheese board and delivering the goods for $11. Great QPR. (1511 views)
Tasted by mike l. on 5/26/2018 & rated 83 points: completely tired. out of gas. still sound, but just flat. (1281 views)
Tasted by RomanPski on 4/1/2018 & rated 86 points: Nice Mâcconais (763 views)
Tasted by ESTEELE90 on 3/20/2018: Pnp. Pours a medium deep straw yellow in the glass. Both the nose and palate are showing with high intensity and what seems to be a complete turnaround from the last bottle I had. Grannysmith apple, golden delicious apple, lemon zest, meyer lemon confit, yuzu, faint pineapple and dried apricot, chamomile, cloves, and salty chalk dominate showing crystalline purity among each note which is delineated by the gently racy acid. Plush midpalate texture with tart apple, lemon, and stoney minerals lead the way to a long, clean, clove and citrus laden finish. Seems to have gone through malo halfway or less, and the oak is undetectable at this point. This wine is on fire right now and such a great example of the appellation. QPR here is nothing short of mind boggling @ $11. (1023 views)
Tasted by ESTEELE90 on 12/10/2017: Pnp. Pours a light straw color in the glass. Nose and palate show a small amount of baby fat right now that has a ways to go before it sheds it all off and becomes well balanced. Toasty oak, marzipan, roasted cashews, meyer lemon, golden delicious apples, and a lovely briny/seashell mineral finish show big right now lacking elegance. Midpalate is round from the oak but has good acid to hep cut it back and the citrus comes ripping through to the salty finish that really makes this nice. Shows upside in the next few years. Really good for the money at $11 from Costco. (1253 views)
Tasted by deetz on 7/19/2017 & rated 90 points: Pale golden to straw color.

Aromas of seashells, Meyer lemon, kiwi, pear, pine nuts, hazelnuts, oatmeal, a touch of baking spice, or otherwise generic oak presence. Clean, zesty palate. The tech sheet that I found for this wine isn't particularly informative, but if I had to guess, I suspect this wine didn't go through full MLF because I felt a distinct "Warhead" like feel on the palate. However, the nose and palate still display substantial creaminess from the slight oak presence along with (presumed) sur lie aging. Well balanced and definitely fun to drink. For under $20, this is an exceptional value. (1329 views)
Tasted by NineteenEightyTwo on 7/10/2017 & rated 84 points: Pale citrine color. Chardonnay-lite nose, with aromas of green apple, some very mildly sweet oak. In the mouth this has quite a smooth texture, though with muddled flavors. There's minimal acidity and a faintly floral aftertaste as this rapidly disappears on the finish. Not a great value at $20/bottle. In total, this is more suitable for the Dauphin than the Queen. (1219 views)
Tasted by rmcnees on 6/3/2017 & rated 88 points: This was crisp clean with nice balance of citrus and acidity with notes of citrus and lemon peel, hints of green apple and spice. (1149 views)
Tasted by KJD45$ on 3/12/2017 & rated 91 points: Nose is saline, sea, opened oyster, lemony fruit.....
Fruit of lemony custard, apricot, nice tart acidity finishes with a lengthy persistence...great QPR. Costco purchase for $20.
BUY IT!! (1504 views)
Tasted by sleepyhaus on 1/7/2017: Good value white burgundy. The other notes here cover the ground fairly well, though I'll add that it drinks better on the cold side, at least for my preferences, which are for citrus and acidity, when warmer it shows a more roundness and fullness, a bit much for my taste. Overall though quite good and will consider a rebuy. '14 white Burgs are very nice. (1323 views)
Tasted by Yorgos on 10/11/2016 & rated 91 points: Bright and smokey aromatics with citrus, chalky minerlaity, vanilla and tropical fruit hints. Nice balance med to high acidity and long finish. Nice 90-91 (856 views)
Tasted by cephomer on 9/28/2016 & rated 89 points: Drank at white burg WWS tasting. Generous nose of lemon peel and citrus. Light to medium bodied, solid acidity core, some minerality & spice. Apples, citrus up front. Nice pour and great value (857 views)
Tasted by Burgundy Al on 9/15/2016: Frederic Wildman Luxury French Tasting (Peninsula Hotel - Chicago IL): Tasting, brief note. Very easy drinking and forward with good balance, moderate depth and length. Good now, good value. (1435 views)
Tasted by Tim Heaton on 8/6/2016: Picked this up on a recent visit to Empire wines, part of an extended summer road trip (and my first time to Empire); took a chance, and glad I did. For $23, this over-delivered across the board, with the wine continuing to develop throughout the meal, adding layers while also continually contrasting with the very fresh acids and soil characteristics. An easy re-buy. 13,0% abv., thru 2019. recommended

Slow-o 1hr, served non-blind. (1249 views)
Tasted by hoservin on 7/25/2016 & rated 91 points: Apple, peach, lemon zest and saline. Finishes dry with distinct mineral character. Excellent QPR. Served with flounder and herb butter. (519 views)
 Tasted by DRS-Inc on 3/26/2016 & rated 89 points: Tasted at LW&L. (495 views)
Tasted by hoservin on 2/5/2016 & rated 90 points: Apple, lemon peel, vanilla and coconut. Leads to a long finish with bright acidity and balanced mineral notes. Good value. Paired well with fettuccine Alfredo. (608 views)
Tasted by pdev on 10/20/2015 & rated 86 points: lemon curd, spicy, chalky & clean. Nice wine, but not speaking to me. (665 views)

Burgundy

Les vins de Bourgogne (Bureau interprofessionnel des vins de Bourgogne) (and in English)

Burgundy - The province of eastern France, famous for its red wines produced from Pinot Noir and its whites produced from Chardonnay. (Small of amounts of Gamay and Aligoté are still grown, although these have to be labeled differently.) The most famous part of the region is known as the Cote d'Or (the Golden Slope). It is divided into the Cote de Beaune, south of the town of Beaune (famous principally for its whites), and the Cote de Nuits, North of Beaune (home of the most famous reds). In addition, the Cote Chalonnaise and the Maconnais are important wine growing regions, although historically a clear level (or more) below the Cote d'Or. Also included by some are the regions of Chablis and Auxerrois, farther north.

# 2013 Vintage Notes:
* "2013 is a vintage that 20 years ago would have been a disaster." - Will Lyons
* "low yields and highly variable reds, much better whites." - Bill Nanson
* "Virtually all wines were chaptalised, with a bit of sugar added before fermentation to increase the final alcohol level." - Jancis Robinson

# 2014 Vintage Notes:
"We have not had such splendid harvest weather for many years. This will ensure high quality (fragrant, classy and succulent are words already being used) across the board, up and down the hierarchy and well as consistently from south to north geographically apart from those vineyards ravaged by the hail at the end of June." - Clive Coates

# 2015 Vintage Notes:
"Low yields and warm weather allowed for ample ripeness, small berries and an early harvest. Quality is looking extremely fine, with some people whispering comparisons with the outstanding 2005 vintage. Acid levels in individual wines may be crucial." - Jancis Robinson

# 2017 Vintage Notes:
"Chablis suffered greatly from frost in 2017, resulting in very reduced volumes. As ever, the irony seems to be that what remains is very good quality, as it is in the Côte d’Or. Cooler nights across the region have resulted in higher-than-usual acidity, with good conditions throughout the harvest season allowing for ripe, healthy fruit." - Jancis Robinson

# 2018 Vintage Notes:
"The most successful region for red Burgundy in 2018 was the Côte de Beaune. The weather was ideal in this area, with just enough sunlight and rain to produce perfectly balanced wines naturally." - Vinfolio
