Tasted by Venezia on 1/22/2024 & rated 95 points: Spectacular wine (572 views)
Tasted by qtsam11 on 11/24/2023 & rated 92 points: Didn't take detailed notes, but very characteristic of other J Schram roses. The off vintage provided some great acidity; compared to the 2013 I had a few weeks back, more acidic but less full. With the meteoric rise in sparkling wine prices, this continues to represent a great value compared to some of the big house vintage roses in Champagne. (707 views)
Tasted by sstein19 on 5/19/2023 & rated 94 points: Deep golden light in salmon in color. Doesn’t have the coloring of a rose. Nose of yeast, lemon, orange blossom, and peach. Smooth with a crisp tart apple finish. (1067 views)
Tasted by gharter on 8/25/2022 & rated 94 points: This is in its drinking window. Very light rose color, arguably more golden than salmon color. Beautiful aroma with strawberry, floral, pear, cinnamon, brioche. Very flavorful showing strawberry, floral, red licorice, spice , light yeast. Small bubbles. Good acidity with a smooth finish. (1610 views)
Tasted by mflesh on 8/4/2022: So, you know when the wine lineup takes 58 seconds to video and really only includes about four sparkling wines, that this one is gonna be rather popular. And, certainly it was. Not only because it was a sparkler, but beccause of what it WAS. This sparkling wine is a very beatufiul Rose explanation of Rose champagne. Fetching 1/5 the price and 2x the value, this wine packs a punch both on the financial side and the production side: this wine overproduces. You won't hear that from me, especially these days. Strawberries and red licorice. Sweet side, small bubbles. Delicious. Excellent full bodied and weighted finish. Really quite an enjoyable sparkling. Definitely going to seek out more of this! (1959 views)
Tasted by Sparty1983 on 2/14/2022 & rated 93 points: Had a 'creamy' taste to it - more of a golden color than rose, perhaps explaining the 'richness'! (1766 views)
Tasted by catowne1 on 12/31/2021 & rated 92 points: May need a bit more time in the bottle. I bit fruity at the moment. (1562 views)
Tasted by Mdmiller on 12/25/2021 & rated 95 points: Spectacular bubbles! Merry Christmas! (1351 views)
Tasted by ralstenm on 12/14/2021 & rated 95 points: Nose of garden flowers, tropical fruits. Beautiful acidity with citrus grapefruit and sour apple. Great birthday cheers for 22 yo twins! (1102 views)
Tasted by Gregmonroe on 7/28/2021: WWC - JL (FWC): Tasted blind - beautiful pink color, lots of steady bubbles, nose of strawberry and sweeter red fruits, mixed with light yeast. Excellent rose flavor profile. Guessed 2006 vintage grower champagne. (1472 views)
Tasted by jvphoto on 4/25/2021 & rated 93 points: Big kid jolly rancher. Delicious with oysters and steak tartare at Press in St. Helena. (1376 views)
Tasted by EpochMD on 4/4/2021 & rated 95 points: lively and tastes younger than it is - bright citrus notes, a touch of grapefruit, lengthy finish, 95 (1508 views)
Tasted by EAAA on 3/13/2021: Delicious (1369 views)
Tasted by sh6k on 12/28/2020 & rated 96 points: Peaches and cream and chalk and tightly integrated focused presentation with long finish. Excellent (1566 views)
Tasted by Wino from Michigan on 11/1/2020 & rated 93 points: Best bottle of USA 'Champagne' i have ever had! (1377 views)
Tasted by twavering on 10/10/2020 & rated 95 points: Very nice with a Waygu Hamburger. Nose wasn't too fruity with a little yeast. (1128 views)
Tasted by Shay.Aldriedge on 9/30/2020 & rated 93 points: My last of a few bottles I picked up during my most recent trip to Napa earlier this year. We always make it a point to visit either Schramsberg or the Davies tasting room to get our sparkling wine fix when in Napa. The quality of these sparklers, with age, is nothing short of impressive. Thankfully it seemed as though they have escaped the fires.

The cool vintage only strengthened this sparkler in its aging capability. Has everything you could want from a Rosé sparkler (in the US, that is)...bright red fruit accompanied by underripe mixed fruits like black cherries, hint of oxidation, potpourri, minerality, and a battle of tart and sweet notes on the finish. It’s very chiseled. Great now, likely fantastic with a few more years of age. (1277 views)
Tasted by Race crew on 5/10/2020 & rated 93 points: Really long finish for a sparkling wine. Raspberries, cranberries. (1394 views)
Tasted by eoinhharkins on 12/24/2019 & rated 94 points: Another vintage and another great showing of this wine 2011, last time I was in Napa! Gorgeous nose of dried earthy minerals, cranberry and raspberries palate is a bit tense with lots of fruit, acidity and fine pin point mousse and a really long finish (1824 views)

2011 Schramsberg Vineyards J. Schram Rosé

from the newsletter

2011 J. Schram Rosé
Tasting Notes - “The 2011 J. Schram Rosé immediately pleases the
eye with its copper tinged, pale salmon color. It opens with aromas
of cherry and peach cobbler, balanced by aspects of baked pineapple,
apricot, marzipan and roasted pear. Layers of candied citrus, lemon meringue and nectarine suffuse the palate, with honey
and brown sugar adding additional complexity.
Rich, fruitful and closing with a tangy long finish,
this wine is truly a feast for the senses.”
Varietal Composition: 69% Chardonnay, 31% Pinot Noir
Barrel Fermentation: 40%
Alcohol: 12.6%
Suggested Retail: $160

Champagne Blend

"Champagne blend" is a classic grape blend that typically includes Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and/or Pinot Meunier in any proportions.

However, this blend can also include Arbane, Fromenteau (Pinot Gris), Petit Meslier and/or Pinot Blanc as well.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson

North Coast

The North Coast American Viticultural Area (AVA) in California, covering more than three million acres, includes Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino and Lake counties, and portions of Marin and Solano counties. (see The Wine Institute for more information)
