| Community Tasting Notes (average 89 pts. and median of 90 pts. in 13 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by Aparritz on 4/5/2020 & rated 90 points: Easy Italian red with enough depth to keep things interesting. Improved to a more brunello like profile by day 3, with a meaty and mixed berry fruit mix that I much preferred to the darker fruits more dominant on opening. (1107 views) | | Tasted by AllRed on 1/6/2018 & rated 89 points: Cherry and terrific floral notes. Nice plummy red fruit with just a hint of raisiny fruit on the back end. (1827 views) | | Tasted by anderegg on 12/14/2017 flawed bottle: Corked. (1711 views) | | Tasted by La Cave d'Argent on 5/24/2017 & rated 87 points: A deep ruby blend of 85% Sangiovese and 15% Colorino, this wine is harmonious, vibrant and very easy to drink. With a core of cherry and raspberry, it is accented by floral and earth notes. Medium-bodied, fresh, softly tannic, lightly oaked and without any heat from its 13.5% alcohol, it stays solid in the middle and closes with medium length. This is a well-priced Italian red that would be an excellent companion to tomato-based pasta dishes, pizza, bresaola or similar fare. Drink now-2021. (2094 views) | | Tasted by Rob MacKay on 4/12/2016 & rated 82 points: It's a good pizza wine. Little thin, decent fruit up front. Nothing special. (2365 views) | | Tasted by nzinkgraf on 1/25/2016: With 25% Colorino, 15 day maceration and fermentation, one year in oak. Very easy and approachable palate to this vintage. Red cherry fruit, just a touch of licorice. Very quaffable and medium body. (1609 views) |
| Casanova di Neri Producer website
U.S. Importer (Addt'l Info)
The Casanova di Neri farm began in 1971 when Giovanni Neri bought a large estate within the territory of Montalcino. Over the years their continuing goal has been the search for and purchasing of land which they believe to be optimal for growing high quality grapes. The result is that today they have about 36 hectares of vineyards divided between four quite distinct areas: il Pietradonice in Castelnuovo dell'Abate, le Cetine in Sant'Angelo in Colle, il Cerretalto and il Fiesole near the farmhouse of the same name facing Montalcino. Recent accolades include a perfect WS 100-point score for the 2001 Brunello di Montalcino Cerretalto and WS Wine of the Year honors for the 2001 Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Nuova.Sangiovese BlendSangiovese blend is used in CellarTracker for Italian wines to represent wines predominantly made of Sangiovese and blended with traditional Italian grapes. It is different than SuperTuscan which is a blend of Sangiovese with non-traditional (eg Bordeaux) varieties, often in closer to equal portions. For example, Chianti is at least 80% Sangiovese and will always be listed Sangiovese blend.Italy Italian Wines (ItalianMade.com, The Italian Trade Commission) | Italian Wine Guide on the WineDoctorTuscany Tuscany (ItalianMade.com) | TuscanytToscana IGTHere is the Wikipedia entry for Toscana wine. |
