Tasted by bubblewitz on 6/21/2020 & rated 90 points: Blackberry, rounded, tannin (575 views)
Tasted by Sijan on 1/21/2018: Past its prime, but still not bad (1041 views)
Tasted by Winiac on 10/18/2017 & rated 89 points: Dark/black in the glass with orange ring, but brown red in close up. Funky aromas and notes of diacetyl on opening. Was much better overnight and a couple hours of decanting. Ripe fruit with start of tertiary flavors. Still together with good structure and balance. Notes of Mourvèdre is prominent. (1157 views)
Tasted by Winiac on 9/27/2015 & rated 89 points: Sweet and ripe fruit with a lot of sediment on the bottle, yet, enough tannins. Declining, drink up! (2240 views)
Tasted by Kentw on 11/10/2014 & rated 89 points: Last bottle. OK day 1 - a bit muted would rate 87 but day two it showed its stripes well. Black and mixed fruit present, fresh with acidity on the finish- well balanced - rate a 90. (2698 views)
Tasted by Kentw on 4/11/2014 & rated 88 points: Day 1 - Very full and dark but fruit more muted and fading, and finish very "dry" jammy and not as smooth. No tannins to speak of. Still ok but not as good, but on day 2 the fruit is fresh again with an intense profile of jammy blackberry that has a smooth finish. Becomes quite pleasant. Quite different from day 1. Almost like it tasted 2 years ago. Would rate it 89. So Avg 88. Would suggest a very long decant before drinking. (2899 views)
Tasted by Tunagravy on 1/19/2014 & rated 91 points: Red fruit start with medium lush finish. Crowd pleaser at recent tasting. Like most, best if decanted hours prior to tasting. (2851 views)
Tasted by Kentw on 3/16/2013 & rated 89 points: Full bodied, dark cherries, sweet fruit and smooth tannins. A bit jammy but restrained with a lush mouth feel. (3052 views)
Tasted by Kentw on 12/17/2012 & rated 89 points: Similar characteristics to the bottle I drank in 2012, but more balanced. It is a lush full body wine, but not jammy, with dark fruits and a bit of spice at the end. Lots of dark chocolate notes which is enjoyable. A bit better on the 2nd day. 89+ (2605 views)
Tasted by BigWineMan on 3/1/2012 & rated 90 points: Decanted. Dark purple in color. Nose of red fruits and strawberry milkshake. Nice mature fruit on this one. Red berry, currant, and strawberries coat the palate nicely. Length is nice. Fruity. The fruit is a bit extracted, but certainly not as over the top as some other Aussie wines. Overall, a well made wine with nice maturity. A bit oaky, but that is my usual complaint these days. (2753 views)
Tasted by Darren747 on 5/22/2011 & rated 91 points: Very well balanced wine showing a complex flavour profile, blackcurrant, ripe cherry, raspberry, vanilla, prunes, juniper and a touch of leather. Very ripe tannins that combine well with acidity giving a velvety structure. Plenty of life left in this wine, it's enjoyable now but will have no problem going another 5-8 years. (3134 views)
Tasted by Kentw on 12/10/2010 & rated 88 points: Very dark fruit and muted at first though a nice nose. After an hour plus it opened up some and you could finally taste a variety of fruit - dark cherry and blackberry with spice - cinnamon is evident. Flavor came into its own - some vanilla (oak) and somewhat dry finish. Not bad - good with food. (2990 views)
Tasted by DrPete on 11/27/2010 & rated 93 points: Still a bit on the young side, but there's beautiful fruit sneaking out. An excellent Aussie GSM. (2767 views)
Tasted by herberto on 1/3/2010 & rated 78 points: I have little patience for wine like this. Oaky and generic, creamy vanilla pop wine. Not untasty, but completely uninteresting. I did not find this as unpleasant as at the first tasting, but perhaps even more offensive in its complete whitewash of origin, varietal character, any character. (3201 views)
Tasted by Tarrant on 12/17/2009 & rated 91 points: Very nice, this had all the great Aussie GSM characteristics, really, really tasty - Very dark, full bodied with a nose of cherry, plum, spice, pepper and vanilla, well structured, balanced, smooth, sweet/sour on the palate with excellent length, very nice! (91 Points). (3164 views)
Tasted by stevenjstein on 12/1/2009 & rated 88 points: Huge black cherry fruit up front, with some spice and tannins at the back end. (3196 views)
Tasted by herberto on 9/22/2009 & rated 84 points: Dense, dark, bitter and unfriendly. Good concentration, but it is like mediocre music turned up too loud. Even mediocre music is better played at a volume that lets you hear the whole dynamic range. This is all pinched into the upper register. (3215 views)
Tasted by KeithAkers on 10/20/2007 & rated 87 points: real dark color

nose: some sour cherry, mulberry, and a hint of mocha. The fruit does smell a bit extracted and fake though. the nose is deep, but at the same time, not really bringing all that much on it

taste: lots of sour cherry on the mouth. It attacks your pallate right off the bat, but dissapears real fast.

overall: a nice wine. it's one dimensional on the mouth and the finish is almost non-existent. good, but not great (3830 views)

Red Rhone Blend

Read about the different grapes used to produce red and white Rhone wines
On CellarTracker, Red Rhone Blend is the term for a wine consisting of two or more of the traditional 13 Southern Rhone grape varieties. Typically it's the Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre or Cinsault grapes, but can also contain the Muscardin, Counoise, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Picpoul, Roussanne, Terret Noir, Picardan or Vaccarese grapes.

A 'food' wine. Lacking pretension and intended for local consumption with local cuisine. Lacks the 'high' notes on a Bordeaux, more earthy and sharper so often a better partner to meat dishes with a sauce.
