Simple but tasty, some tannins give it a bit of grit on the finish (B/B+). (128 views) | | Tasted by lake.vino on 5/10/2023 & rated 88 points: Cherry, herbal, bell pepper, a bit hot. Palate balanced, still juicy fruit, some tannin, showing heat of vintage. (130 views) | | Tasted by lake.vino on 8/10/2020 & rated 88 points: Remains fresh. Slightly hot but good pepper notes and cherry. Palate balanced and showing good acid. (440 views) | | Tasted by Siwink57 on 9/1/2019 & rated 88 points: It has been a few years since my last bottle and the harsh tannins that I remember are gone. Nice red fruits and full mouthfeel. A tad "grapey" flavor that may be due to the lower alcohol level. Overall a good wine that was worth the wait. Oh, this was my 1,000th bottle since I started using CellarTracker...will be pairing with homemade chili...ole! (605 views) | | Tasted by lake.vino on 6/2/2019 & rated 89 points: Classic loire cab franc - some green bell pepper, cherry; Palate similar, mineral, great acid, voluptuous fruit. Beautiful wine, no hurry to drink at this stage. (555 views) | | Tasted by JohnSh on 12/29/2017 & rated 88 points: Hazy notes from a couple of days ago. My main memory is the wonderful, floral nose: a mix of red fruits and sweet flowers. The palate was medium bodied, with more red fruits and some herbal notes. Great QPR here, a fresh, clean Loire cab franc for very little money (B+). (795 views) | | Tasted by Wine Ratings on 9/27/2016 & rated 86 points: Deluxe pizza in a glass, if such a thing is possible! Ironically enough, I actually drank this bottle alongside just that - a tasty deluxe pizza – with which it paired perfectly. The wine was incredibly fresh and light, but certainly not lacking in flavour. It was very green though not in an unripe sense; the notes of flowers, green pepper, tomatoes, and olives were right on point to go with other savoury hints of forest, moss, and stone. There was just enough tart red fruit to create a suitable balance and the structure was exactly as you’d want: an easy going 12.5% with medium tannins and acidity providing excellent drinkability. There wasn’t much complexity beyond that, but this Chinon definitely had a sense of place! Well worth it for the price. And if you’re looking for all of that pizza taste at only half the calories, this is the wine for you. (1140 views) |
