Quite nice (544 views) | | Tasted by PinotPaul on 4/7/2020 & rated 92 points: Lovely, rich Chard. Brightness is fading, but wow, a lovely Chard with a long finish. Last bottle, sigh. (1122 views) | | Tasted by PinotPaul on 10/11/2019 & rated 93 points: Outstanding Chard. (1191 views) | | Tasted by tcosgriff on 6/9/2019 & rated 88 points: Yellow color with a bouquet and flavor dominated by vanilla oak with prominent acidity. Pleasant but a bit light on nuance and depth. Moderate finish. (1312 views) | | Tasted by PinotPaul on 11/12/2018 & rated 93 points: Very nice. Bright acid with some nice richness (1183 views) | | Tasted by winejnky on 10/14/2018 & rated 88 points: Same as prior note, this is a very good wine but lacking that extra special something. (1127 views) | | Tasted by winejnky on 6/15/2018 & rated 89 points: On the lighter side relative to prior vintages of this wine. Fruity with very limited oak and a touch light in terms of acidity. Enjoyable but no wow factor. (760 views) | | Tasted by PinotPaul on 5/22/2018 & rated 91 points: Lovely chard. Well balanced with good acidity, fruit, and ML. Light oak. (746 views) | | Tasted by Pquaker on 12/10/2017 & rated 93 points: Acidic on follow through, pale yellow, not quite golden, nice after taste, More like a Dumol than Kistler. (996 views) | | Tasted by msuwine on 5/30/2017 & rated 93 points: This rich and round Chardonnay is drinking well right now, though I think it will be even better next year. Light yellow in color, full in body, lovely nose of butterscotch, lemon meringue, and crushed rock. Tastes of Bartlett pear, orange peel, hazelnut, and vanilla, with a nervy yet layered finish that carries a hint of salt water - and goes on and on. 15.3% alcohol. This is one of the best Martinelli's I've had to date, since it successfully balances the power and ripeness inherent in their wines. This easily bested a 2014 Ancillary Cellars Sangiacomo tasted on the same night, given that the Martinelli had more complexity and roundness. This is an impressive wine for under $60, and I look forward to opening my other bottle in 2018. Give it at least an hour in the decanter if you drink now. (1697 views) | | Tasted by Deb293 on 5/27/2017 & rated 92 points: Very delicious and approachable, if you like the honeyed style of Cali Chard. Some heat on the nose...but nothing off-putting. Full-bodied, with a long finish. Not a lightweight. (1075 views) | | Tasted by PinotPaul on 5/15/2017 & rated 92 points: Very nice chard. (857 views) | | Tasted by In vino potestus est on 4/7/2017 & rated 94 points: Straw color.Rich, seductive, floral fragrance fills the glass. Tangerine, citrus, mint, caramel and, at the end, anise. Full bodied. Long finish. Delicious. Should improve with another 1-3 years of bottle age. (972 views) | | Only displaying the 25 most recent notes - click to see all notes for this wine... |

Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Sonoma CountyMendocino CountyRussian River Valley Russian River Valley Winegrowers Association | Wikipedia |
