| Community Tasting Notes (average 88 pts. and median of 89 pts. in 10 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by mkmast on 8/30/2015 & rated 88 points: A solid wine but not exciting or distinctive. Light straw color in the class. Nose doesn't give off much. Nice full mouthfeel. Some buttered toast notes from the oak but not overbearing. The the softening of the fruit flavors and the lack of acid leave the wine too soft and passive for my taste. (1546 views) | | Tasted by jlgnml on 1/30/2015 & rated 89 points: Darker color, buttery, good finish. (1692 views) | | Tasted by JDRFoster on 6/16/2014 & rated 89 points: Oak, nuts, and lees with mineral iodine notes, smoky Autumn herbs, and lemon. Solid, if not totally giving. (1970 views) | | Tasted by bgriffi1 on 1/21/2013 & rated 90 points: Still ood but would like some more acidity as just a bit too flabby (2712 views) | | Tasted by D.Callahan on 7/24/2012 & rated 90 points: A very good chardonnay from Martinelli it has a toasty brioche nose and palate with some mineral showing up mid palate through the finish. A little more one dimensional then I would prefer, it still rounded out very nicely by the second day and added a few floral notes to take it to the 90 point mark. (2882 views) | | Tasted by Booth on 6/14/2012 & rated 93 points: Incredible nose: creamed corn and lychee. A very rich mouthfeel. Tasted of whipped butter and oak. (2495 views) | | Tasted by Scharin on 8/30/2011 & rated 88 points: Kind of one note: buttered toast. But it's a pretty good note. (2038 views) | | Tasted by twoamps on 7/1/2010 & rated 90 points: typical martinelli chardonnay. Really full flavored (783 views) | | Tasted by jeffm_fla on 5/1/2010 & rated 88 points: Nice flavors, but the high alcohol (14.9%) overwhelmed and made the wine seem unbalanced. Disappointing, particularly after the high WS rating. (1482 views) |

Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Sonoma CountyMendocino CountyRussian River Valley Russian River Valley Winegrowers Association | Wikipedia |
