| Community Tasting Notes (average 90.6 pts. and median of 91 pts. in 9 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by Omar Khayyam on 3/11/2018 & rated 92 points: I think the previous notes pretty much sums it up: typical oxidative jura style, but has a nutty salty but also fruity feel to it with some glycerin like texture. Quite big wine actually. And so yummy. (1251 views) | | Tasted by Teknsteel on 11/26/2017 & rated 91 points: Golden hue. Sotolon on the nose. Raisins, ripe apples and a touch of yeast on the palate. Displays typicity. But of vin jaune. Pair with cheese. (1203 views) | | Tasted by Jonas Ahnstedt on 10/28/2017 & rated 88 points: A not an ordinary wine. Had almost a cherry an port flavor. After a while an a few degrees upwards, red apples, mature pineapple an exotic fruit. Salty minerals. (1243 views) | | Tasted by SuperSomm on 7/14/2017: Light straw yellow. Spices and chestnuts on the nose. Taste of spices and celeriac. Might remind me of herbinfused spirits or desert wines. Something completely different with great structure and complexity. Long finish. You will be needing food with this one. Might go well with creamy sauces, mushrooms and cheeses. For adventurous people that enjoy wine. (58 views) | | Tasted by "Rhône Rider" on 4/4/2017 & rated 89 points: Intens litt sursøt, med nøtter, salt med et tydelig oksidativt preg. intens og lang. Flott tapasvin. (1297 views) | | Tasted by Ebrim on 3/16/2017 & rated 91 points: no proper notes - Flor, lemon, salt, nutts, yellow apples, well structured and complex, 91-92p (1284 views) |

Wine Scholar Guild vintage ratings
2018 vintage: "marked by a wet spring, a superb summer and a good harvest" 2019 vintage reports 2021: "From a general standpoint, whether for white, rosé or red wines, 2021 is a year marked by quality in the Rhône Valley Vineyards. Structured, elegant, fresh and fruity will be the main keywords for this new vintage." 2022 harvest: idealwine.info | wine-searcher.comJuraA petite and relatively obscure wine region in eastern France, between Burgundy and the Swiss border. Its geographical isolation has helped it to remain a rare bastion of traditional winemaking techniques, and today it produces some of the most distinctive wines in the world. Reds from the Jura are often light-bodied, earthy, berried, and reminiscent of the village wines of Burgundy (though here they are made of local grapes like Poulsard and Trousseau). While Chardonnay features widely, the true specialty of the region is the Vin Jaune (“yellow wine”) made from the white Savagnin grape. Cloudy, difficult Vin Jaune is made only in the best vintages, and must be aged for at least six years before being released. As it ages under a layer of yeast, known locally as “voile,” the wine slowly oxidizes, leading to complex aromas and flavors that range from walnut skin to sultana to spices and truffles. Famously long lived it is always sold in dumpy 62 cl bottle - the wine lost in production having been taken by les anges.
