Tasted by kingkanu on 12/19/2022: Decanted for a couple of hours. Quite a dark purple but medium weight. A very expressive nose, plenty of crunchy peppery fruit and lovely acidity. Some fine tannins. Still some upside here but lovely to drink now (584 views)
Tasted by Ynez on 2/22/2021: 開瓶第一天酸度很亮眼,入喉俐落,骨架清新。
第一段莓果及奔放的花香;中間帶出桶陳風味及些許紫羅蘭;尾巴短但令人意猶未盡,非常開胃。
開瓶第二天酸度較柔和,甜感扎實。
開瓶第四天出現老酒味,類似雪莉酒,但入喉已經沒有風味了。 (746 views)
Tasted by arvidpalmqvist on 1/3/2021: Initially a (reductive) struck match note which faded with time. Lingonberries, pomegranate, liquorice, a green hint, dark minerality and some paint bucket (within balance). Overall, a quaffable yet structured wine, I had my expectations set too high though, but don’t get me wrong, this is a really nice wine. I’m not sure this has the stuffing for any long-time cellaring, and it’s wide open now, the question is - was it even better a couple of years ago? (690 views)
Tasted by jrick on 7/12/2020 & rated 90 points: Cherry, raspberry, licorice, olives, salty. Quite smoothly structured but with good acidity. Some reduction as always with Envinate but drinking well straight out of the bottle. Didn’t quite wow me like the Camino Novo in the same vintage. (799 views)
Tasted by Mrp2008 on 2/24/2019 & rated 94 points: Slightly reduced and muted on the nose. Quickly decanted and drank over 2 hours. This wine is all balance, elegance, mouthfeel and energetic acidity. Crazy mouthwatering finish. Mid weight with so much verve. And yes that granite aspect other have mentioned is there too. One of those rare wines I would buy in cases if I could find it. Drink now or hold. (1334 views)
Tasted by nzinkgraf on 10/3/2017: At pop and pour, black pepper, cherry and very mineral. Medium body, medium/- tannin. Lots of granite notes to the palate. Not reduced at pop and pour, which is nice. Lavender on the palate with a 45 minutes of air. Really nice with some air, after very pepper at pnp.
Day 2 and celery seed really jumps out. Cherry 7-Up with a celery stick swizzle. (1425 views)
Tasted by EvanfromEdmonton on 9/17/2017 & rated 93 points: Chiseled, lifted, precise, and a beautiful granite crunch. All the things you'd want this wine to be. (1082 views)

Envinate

Envinate - importer description:http://www.josepastorselections.com/envinate.html

Mencía

Mencia is grown in the Northwestern region of Spain near the borders of Galicia, Leon, and Zamora. Mencia produces fruity wines of great color, acidity and aging potential. It is sweet and aromatic, with a good dose of alcohol. The vines produce medium-sized clusters and fruit.

The reds made from Mencia have a characteristic velvety palate. Traditional reds are pale, fragrant and light wines. Modern winemakers are creating bolder reds, of higher concentration, expressing Mencia’s aromas and freshness. Many wineries are taking advantage of the variety ability to aging.

Rose wines are aromatic and fruity, lively, light and soft.

Spain

Vinos de España - Wines of Spain (Instituto Español de Comercio Exterior) | Wikipedia
Wine Map on weinlagen-info

Spain is the third largest wine producing nation in the world, occupying the majority of the Iberian Peninsula with vast diversity in climate, culture, and of course, wine. From inky, dark reds of the [Priorat] to dry, white Finos from Andalusia, Spain can easily boast of elaborating a wide variety of notable styles. Within Spain there are currently 62 demarcated wine regions, of which a handful have gained international recognition: [Rioja], Priorat and [Ribera del Duero]. Yet these regions are only a small sample of the high quality wines Spain produces. Regions such as Cava, Penedes, Somontano, Galicia, Rueda and Jerez are only a few of the numerous regions worthy of exploration throughout Spain. Spain can also lay claim to having the most land under vine in the world, growing up to, by some accounts, 600 indigenous varietals of which Tempranillo is their most well known. Other popular varietals include [Garnacha], Bobal and Monastrell for reds and for whites; the infamous [sic] Palomino Fino grape which is used in the production of sherry wine, Pedro Ximenez in Montilla Morilles, Albarino used in the creation of the bright, effervescent wines of Galicia, and Verdejo in Rueda. - Source: - Catavino.net

Spain is not in the forefront of winemaking for its dessert wines, other than for its sweet wines from Sherry country including the highly revered Olorosos (when sweetened). But apart from Sherry Spain has a range of styles of dessert wines, ranging from the those made from the Pedro Ximenez grape primarily in Jerez and Montilla-Moriles) to luscious, red dessert wines made in the Mediterranean from the Garnacha (Grenache) grape. Some good Moscatels are made in Mallorca, Alicante and Navarre. The northwest corner of Spain, Galicia, with its bitter Atlantic climate, is even making dessert wines, called “Tostadillos” in the village of Ribadivia (similar to France’s “Vin de Paille”). The Canary Islands have made interesting dessert wines for centuries (they are mentioned by Shakespeare, for example) and in recent years the quality of winemaking has been improved and the Canary Islands wines are being better marketed now. The winemaking styles for “Vinos Dulces” are also diverse, from “Late Harvest” (Vendimia Tardía) to “Fortified Wines” (Fermentación Parcial). Based on in-spain.info.

Galicia

Galicia is an autonomous region in the northwestern corner of Spain, north of Portugal. It is marked by an atlantic climate with frequent rain and moderate temperatures, especially along the coastal regions. There are five Denominación de Origen (DO) areas: Monterrei, Rías Baixas, Ribeira Sacra, Ribeiro and Valdeorras. Probably the best known wines are the Albariño wines from Rias Baixas, but all regions have seen increased interest in recent years. There has been also a notable resurgence of local grapes, like Godello, Treixadura or Loureiro.
