Tasted by Franken Berry on 11/24/2023 & rated 95 points: The estate wine hails from the southern most point of Calistoga, perhaps the foothills below Howell Mountain.
Two hour slow ox, which was about right. Intense blue and black fruit aromas upon first opening. Warm blackberry, cherry and plum fruits. dark chocolate, black currant leaf and hint of orange rind. Terrific richness and balance and even better integrated than a bottle I had over the summer.
This was my last bottle. It is drinking at its peak for my palate and I am glad I opened it. On day two, it picked up a meaty, syrah like quality (657 views)
Tasted by AGELVIS on 11/21/2023 & rated 95 points: 90 minute decant. Extremely deep ruby magenta color. Intense blackberry, cherry cola, tea, dark raspberry, coffee cake, and dried mushroom. Dry, satiny palate, with good acidity. Full, slightly rounded tannins on the long finish.

This has terrific structure for its age. It’s deep, somewhat rich, and just a touch syrupy. I cannot believe I’ve had 14 bottles over the past four years. I now have no more, but this is now just past it’s peak for my palate. (897 views)
Tasted by AGELVIS on 9/10/2023 & rated 95 points: Two hour slow ox. Very deep dark magenta color. Black walnut, plum, angel food cake, caramel corn, rose, pistachio baklava, and subtle dark chocolate. Dry, velvety, plush palate. Voluptuous tannins on the longish finish.

This is just barely beyond its peak for my palate. It’s rich, integrated, and mature. A one hour decant is probably ideal, but PNP would work. (1065 views)
Tasted by Franken Berry on 9/2/2023 & rated 95 points: Get together with friends to celebrate my favorite part of summer. Two hours slow ox’d. Beautiful node of blueberries cassis, black currant leaf and orange rind. Nice balance, deep fruit intermixed with stone and bramble. Tasty wine, just needed a tad more lushness to push it over 95 mark (916 views)
Tasted by AGELVIS on 5/11/2023 & rated 96 points: PNP. Very deep dark hazy ruby color. Cassis, blueberry, bay leaf, tobacco, and smoky orange rind. Smooth, dry, full bodied palate, with fine acidity. Firm, full tannins on the longish finish.

This is drinking at or just beyond its peak. Wine of the night amongst a good group of wine friends. (1223 views)
Tasted by Mark1npt on 5/9/2023 & rated 97 points: Yikes! Yet another late night addition to the lineup by our host, Agelvis. A pnp and it turns out to be the WOTN. And before you say, "of course it was because you already had four other bottles in you!" I say, not. We have much wine left from those other bottles under vacuum in the fridge awaiting a trial tomorrow....but this Jones Estate completely disappeared as everybody went back for more! Dare I say it is in its perfect window? Deep opaque ruby in the glass with a nose of black currant(cassis), bay leaf, tobacco and just a hint in the back of your mouth of menthol that wants to waft up into your sinuses. With an hour of air a hint of smokey orange rind shows up, identified by our host and I agree. The palate is full and bold with medium + acidity, tannins and alcohol all balanced out quite nicely. No harsh edges here. Rich, juicy black but now changing to blue fruit and a savory, spicy finish to it all. Great depth here and feels like it's at its peak to me! What a nice wine and way to finish off the 1st evening....much thanks to our hosts! A 97 for me. (1408 views)
Tasted by AGELVIS on 4/8/2023 & rated 96 points: Thirty minute decant. Deep dark , yet vibrant and slightly hazy, magenta color. Boysenberry pie and lemon meringue are the dominant notes. Smooth, dry, full bodied palate, with satiny, tongue coating acidity. Firm, full, medium intensity tannins on the longish finish.

Very nicely integrated at this point. Terrific fruit, without being extracted. Drinks better than the ‘16 for me. (1054 views)
Tasted by AGELVIS on 10/21/2022 & rated 95 points: One hour decant. Nearly opaque core, surrounded by a thick band of electric ruby. Black cherry, fig, amaretto cookie, and milk chocolate on the nose. Smooth, dry palate, with fine, dusty acidity. Full, plush tannins on the longish finish. There’s some charcoal that sneaks into the palate and finish to provide balance. (1127 views)
Tasted by AGELVIS on 10/11/2022 & rated 94 points: 90 min decant. Deep dark magenta core, but lightens outward to reveal age. Stewed plum, toasted hazelnut, violet, dried mushroom shaving, cinnamon, raspberry, and Nestle Crunch bar on the nose. Super smooth, dry palate, with nice satiny acidity. Firm, full, low intensity tannins on the longish finish.

The fruit is somewhat diminished relative to a bottle I had a few months ago. The nose and palate are both very expressive. There is a delay to the acidity that is fun/interesting. (1131 views)
Tasted by AGELVIS on 8/16/2022 & rated 96 points: 90 min decant. Very deep dark magenta color. Blueberry danish, blackberry, dark walnut, raspberry jelly, chocolate malt, and some minerality on the nose. Smooth, dry palate, with good acidity. Raspberry, chocolate, and cinnamon notes are more prominent on the palate. Full tannins on the longish finish. Complex, expressive, fruit forward, integrated... 96+ (1278 views)
Tasted by jimyeni on 8/11/2022 & rated 92 points: Slight Jamminess and lots of fruit. Concentrated but not extreme. Enjoyable but not memorable (666 views)
Tasted by AGELVIS on 5/25/2022 & rated 97 points: Two hour decant. Deep dark magenta color. Blackberry, dark raspberry, dogwood (flower), powdered beignets, dark chocolate, and subtle dill on the beautiful nose. Smooth, dry palate, with good acidity. Firm tannins on the longish finish. (1119 views)
Tasted by AGELVIS on 5/5/2022 & rated 97 points: One hour decant. Tremendously deep ruby magenta color, with nearly opaque core. Waffle cone, raspberry, black cherry, blackberry, truffle shavings, dried pear, and subtle milk chocolate on the nose. Smooth, dry, plush palate, with good acidity. Voluptuous tannins on the long finish. Perfectly aged for my palate. (1066 views)
Tasted by Tahlequahdave1972 on 12/6/2021 & rated 95 points: Slow ox for an hour and consumed over the following two. Deep, dark purple in the glass. Aromas of blueberry, violets and cassis. Flavors included plum, chocolate, baking spice and dark licorice with secondary notes of white pepper, tobacco and pencil lead. Big, rich and concentrated, well-structured, polished and appealing. Generous, lingering finish. A premium Cali cabernet that hit all of the "right buttons." Exquisite! (489 views)
Tasted by davidandrose on 11/27/2021 & rated 94 points: Restaurant purchase. Solid but tight right out of the bottle. After a 90 min decant this is opening up but it’s evident it’d benefit from morel time.

Alcohol still present on the tight nose, even 90 mins later. Dry and tannic, still needs lots of time but is fine today. Better w food but fine in its own. Ideally give this 2.5+ hrs; no rush at all and a solid value at its retail price. (458 views)
Tasted by jimyeni on 10/23/2021: Coravined a glass which was tight with a touch of funk. Needs time to open and blow off. Not rating for now. (562 views)
Tasted by La Cave d'Argent on 9/29/2021 & rated 94 points: Crafted by Thomas Rivers Brown, this opaque crimson wine is comprised of 98% Cabernet Sauvignon, with the remaining 2% filled in with dollops of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. This particular well-cellared bottle was brought to a restaurant, where it was immediately decanted by the sommelier. The wine was ultimately poured after one hour in decanter, at which point it had nicely blossomed. Rich and seductive, it delivers an alluring mix of cassis, velvety dark plums, baking spices, melted licorice, fig and sandalwood. Full-bodied, low-to-medium in acidity, seamlessly alcoholic (14.8%) and with plentiful silky-textured tannins, it weaves in a judicious component of toasted oak on the dense mid-palate and lengthy finish. This lithe Cab is already showing beautifully and should provide a hedonistic experience throughout the remainder of this decade. Drink now-2030. (623 views)
Tasted by bubbachumps on 9/16/2021 & rated 94 points: Consistent with my prior note (459 views)
Tasted by bubbachumps on 7/10/2021 & rated 94 points: Quintessential TRB napa cab, bursting with fruit, great balance and utterly delish! My one knock on this is that it could use a bit more structure. This is ready to go! Drink'em if you got them (625 views)
Tasted by AGELVIS on 4/18/2021 & rated 96 points: 90 min decant. Very very deep ruby magenta color. Black currant, black cherry taffy, gingerbread, cinnamon graham cracker, and subtle cocoa on the rich, dark, sultry nose. Dry, satiny palate, with sizzling acidity. Firm, full tannins on the long finish. This is drinking at its peak for my unabashedly fruit forward palate. (1153 views)
Tasted by AGELVIS on 2/9/2021 & rated 97 points: Three hour decant. Deep dark magenta color. Stewed cherry, fudge, blueberry, rose petals, pumpkin seeds, cola, and dirty ginger on the musky, sexy, complex nose. Smooth, dry, plush palate, with fine, tongue drying acidity and lots of fudge and tart strawberry. Firm, full tannins on the long finish. This has improved dramatically in the past few months. Drinking in prime time now. (1404 views)
Tasted by AGELVIS on 11/20/2020 & rated 93 points: Three hour decant. Nearly opaque magenta color. Boysenberry, wild strawberry, lilac, milk chocolate, and toasted almond on the nose. Plush, dry palate, with very nice acidity and great Earl Grey tea and chocolate notes. Very soft tannins on the longish finish that is mostly attributable to the acid.

This is interesting and oddly disappointing for the price. The nose and palate are 97 pts, but the poor tannic structure makes the finish 90 pts or less. (959 views)
Tasted by AGELVIS on 5/12/2020 & rated 93 points: Five hour decant. Bright, nearly opaque ruby magenta color. Milk chocolate covered malt balls, boysenberry, black cherry, cola, juniper and subtle toffee on the complex nose. Dry, satiny, chocolatey, plush-fruited palate, with soft acidity. Firm, full, medium intensity tannins on the medium long finish.

Beautiful TRB Cabernet, but a bit disappointing for the price point. Acid and tannins were too soft and finish was too short. There is certainly room for improvement in the coming year or two. (1050 views)
Tasted by AGELVIS on 11/24/2019 & rated 93 points: Three hour decant. Very deep dark purplish magenta color. Rhubarb, black tea, allspice, blackberry, lingonberry and roasted corn on the nose. Smooth, dry palate, with soft acidity. Soft tannins on the medium+ finish. This is young and a touch simple, but impressive nonetheless. It will improve dramatically in a year. (1013 views)

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
