The estate wine hails from the southern most point of Calistoga, perhaps the foothills below Howell Mountain. Two hour slow ox, which was about right. Intense blue and black fruit aromas upon first opening. Warm blackberry, cherry and plum fruits. dark chocolate, black currant leaf and hint of orange rind. Terrific richness and balance and even better integrated than a bottle I had over the summer. This was my last bottle. It is drinking at its peak for my palate and I am glad I opened it. On day two, it picked up a meaty, syrah like quality

90 minute decant. Extremely deep ruby magenta color. Intense blackberry, cherry cola, tea, dark raspberry, coffee cake, and dried mushroom. Dry, satiny palate, with good acidity. Full, slightly rounded tannins on the long finish.
This has terrific structure for its age. It’s deep, somewhat rich, and just a touch syrupy. I cannot believe I’ve had 14 bottles over the past four years. I now have no more, but this is now just past it’s peak for my palate.
Two hour slow ox. Very deep dark magenta color. Black walnut, plum, angel food cake, caramel corn, rose, pistachio baklava, and subtle dark chocolate. Dry, velvety, plush palate. Voluptuous tannins on the longish finish.
This is just barely beyond its peak for my palate. It’s rich, integrated, and mature. A one hour decant is probably ideal, but PNP would work.

Get together with friends to celebrate my favorite part of summer. Two hours slow ox’d. Beautiful node of blueberries cassis, black currant leaf and orange rind. Nice balance, deep fruit intermixed with stone and bramble. Tasty wine, just needed a tad more lushness to push it over 95 mark
PNP. Very deep dark hazy ruby color. Cassis, blueberry, bay leaf, tobacco, and smoky orange rind. Smooth, dry, full bodied palate, with fine acidity. Firm, full tannins on the longish finish.
This is drinking at or just beyond its peak. Wine of the night amongst a good group of wine friends.
