Tasted by mpsocal on 7/14/2023 & rated 93 points: Excellent wine, great flavor and a long finish (654 views)
Tasted by Sonoma-W on 6/29/2023 & rated 92 points: Very smooth - not a weak wine! A bit lighter than most vintages. Good life left. (240 views)
Tasted by gjv115 on 5/16/2023: Pnp. I've been hoping this had the structure to develop into something
. Maybe, but I'm not seeing it. It's OK. I don't know what to do with the rest. Drink? Or take a flyer and hope something interesting happens? (681 views)
Tasted by Shymur on 3/30/2023 & rated 91 points: Possibly waited too long to drink. However, after a lengthy period airing , it was very good (674 views)
Tasted by kevrob822 on 12/25/2022 & rated 92 points: Very Nice. Smooth, balanced, with rich black and blue fruit. Very soft, supple, and smooth. Excellent, and I’ve gotten away from really aged wines, but this was enjoyed immensely. (943 views)
Tasted by Gnome on 12/4/2022 flawed bottle: Blind tasting of flagship and second wines from California and Washington. Biggest takeaway is how well the second wines stood up to their bigger siblings. Sadly neglected to check this before the tasting started. Bottle was clearly corked, wasn't appropriate to compare with the rest. Full list and rankings below.

1. 2011 Ridge Monte Bello
2. 2013 Joseph Phelps Cabernet

Tasted by denisontb on 11/24/2022 & rated 90 points: Drank 3 liter double magnum. Decanted for an hour. Smelled amazing!! Tasting sip at first opening was closed anf tannic, but after one hour this wine was singing! Truly delicious. Smooth, long finish. Everyone really enjoyed it. (486 views)
Tasted by Coastalnative on 8/26/2022 & rated 93 points: Purchased from the winery in 2014... Absolutely delicious and perfect at age 11. Not from the best year ever but I tend to like the more lean Napa / Sonoma years. Fruit was still there but nicely evolved with notes of leather, animal and earth as well. I couldn't stop smelling this because it was so complex. On the palate it was silky and refined with completely resolved tannins. While it will go another few years, why not drink it now while it is really at its peak. (775 views)
Tasted by EW1962 on 6/12/2022: Gave to JP for 60th (876 views)
Tasted by Shugs_Claret on 5/31/2022 & rated 92 points: No rush. Drinking well. Dark fruit complemented by plenty acidity and fine tannins. (828 views)
Tasted by Night Train on 4/15/2022 & rated 91 points: My last bottle and even better than most recent previous bottle only three months ago. IMHO, it still could benefit from a more tannic structure (which I'm sure it had 2 or 3 years ago), but it is (was) just freakin' delicious. All kinds of dark DARK fruits, along with hints of forest floor, tobacco, and God only knows what else. Very rich, with a plush texture, and it had a solid (not stellar) finish. Seems like Pride never disappoints. (897 views)
Tasted by Dine&Vine on 2/1/2022 & rated 93 points: Blackberry, chocolate, eucalyptus and spice flavors kicked this bottle into high gear! Still has plenty of tannins and good acidity so no rush. (1087 views)
Tasted by Night Train on 1/15/2022 & rated 90 points: A bottle one week ago must have been flawed, because this one was just fine. Delicious, although the tannins have subsided a little too much for my liking. Drink now. (1064 views)
Tasted by Night Train on 1/8/2022 & rated 88 points: My first 2011 Pride, and unless this was a off bottle, it looks like I may have waited too long to start drinking them. The low (for a Pride) score is partly and admittedly due to my stupidity, but it also reflects my disappointment that (at least) this bottle did not have the stuffing to last longer than it did. As for the wine, it was OK. Nose was so-so, but it was fairly rich, with a decent finish. Surprising acidity and a lot of American oak, but not much else. Corked? Cooked? Stay tuned. (938 views)
Tasted by td1836 on 12/30/2021 & rated 93 points: A really good showing. Dense black and blue fruits, mouth coating, with adequate structure to accompany the rich fruit. (878 views)
Tasted by moxielady on 11/10/2021 & rated 92 points: Moderate Sediment, dark fruit nose, Brambleberry, Light vanilla and pepper on the mouth, balanced acid and tenants. Drinking well now. Will Get better and probably go another 3 to 5 years (1119 views)
Tasted by Wrkolbeck on 10/17/2021 & rated 90 points: Needs an hour or 2 to open up, drinking well but fades quickly. (927 views)
Tasted by Doblk on 9/26/2021 & rated 91 points: A bit harsh at first. Needed a couple of hours to soften. Lots of typical Napa dense fruit, but with good acidity and some interesting wood, cedar, char notes. Great with braised short ribs. (996 views)
Tasted by jromoonbeam on 7/28/2021 & rated 95 points: Had with steak and was delicious. Was a fun visit to the winery back in 2013 when I bought the bottle. (1272 views)
Tasted by ID on 6/18/2021: Such a classic Cali cab. The bigness. The viscosity. Thick. Had a light and acidic red Burgundy (2008 Fixin 1er cru) with roast chicken, after which this was a good accompaniment to chocolate. (1316 views)
Tasted by rmarcos on 6/5/2021 & rated 90 points: Still going with alot of fruit. Needed to open up. Great with a steak (1138 views)
Tasted by Ravi Deshpande on 4/18/2021 & rated 91 points: My second last bottle, and by far the best. It’s got a floral, rose and ketone note that is reminiscent of the lovely 2006 vintage.

I came back to the bottle after a Coravin or two and found the last of the bottle was less charming.

I’ll leave the last bottle for a while to see where it goes. (1267 views)
Tasted by Wrkolbeck on 4/11/2021 & rated 90 points: Surprising tannin on opening, throwing lots of sediment. Needs an hour or two decant to open up. Then quite enjoyable. (1166 views)
Tasted by moxielady on 2/6/2021 & rated 92 points: Needed to breathe, very nice after some time (1168 views)
Tasted by racedriver1 on 1/29/2021: Good (1158 views)

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson

North Coast

The North Coast American Viticultural Area (AVA) in California, covering more than three million acres, includes Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino and Lake counties, and portions of Marin and Solano counties. (see The Wine Institute for more information)
