Community Tasting Notes (average 90.8 pts. and median of 91 pts. in 57 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by Trognacara on 5/10/2024 & rated 92 points: Brioche, lemon, chalk and green apple descrptors, refreshing acidity and M body
Very sparkling with an aggressive perlage
M+ finish (150 views)
Tasted by KNDHCellars on 5/4/2024 & rated 91 points: Beautiful pale gold with notes of pineapple and apricot (131 views)
Tasted by FMIL on 4/24/2024 & rated 94 points: Beautiful! It continues to be one of my favorite Champagnes. Fresh, elegant bubble with lime, grapefruit aromas and a final note of pineapple. (241 views)
Tasted by lozatron on 3/26/2024: Steak and beef dripping chips with P&J (At home in leafy West London): Served from magnum. Real energy and zip - some citrus, some sherbet - no apple, maybe a hint of brioche. Jolly nice stuff. (391 views)
Tasted by Adrian Chmielarz on 1/31/2024 & rated 88 points: No matter how many times I drink it, I remember nearly nothing about it the next day. Yeah, it's fine, fruit and chalk and all, but lacking a bite. (453 views)
Tasted by asparagus on 12/10/2023 & rated 90 points: Very solid champagne. Low dosage and it feels it. but nicely done, not austere at all (685 views)
Tasted by djsaunde on 12/6/2023 & rated 90 points: Nose: lemon, yellow apple, juniper, acid.

Palate: lemon / lemon pith (slight, not unpleasant bitterness), more yellow apple, slight toasty note. Vibrant, medium+ / high acid, slight astringency, long finish, fine bubbles, medium body.

A very well made wine, but lacking in complexity / fruit. The chardonnay seemed to dominant despite being the 2nd grape in the blend (pinot noir being the first). It's best qualities were it's lovely acidity and long finish. (671 views)
Tasted by Schönibert on 11/16/2023: Degorgiert 2020, feine Perlen, latente Alterung. (628 views)
Tasted by Burgundy Al on 10/28/2023 & rated 91 points: La Fête du Champagne Grand Tasting (Pier Sixty - New York NY): Walkaround tasting with the producers. Here, the low dosage (actually 5g) seems like just enough. Rich and complex with enough energy and good balance. Very good length. 2018 base with solera going back to 1985, 45% PN, 33% Chard, 22% Meunier. (543 views)
Tasted by Burgundy Al on 10/28/2023 & rated 93 points: La Fête du Champagne Grand Tasting (Pier Sixty - New York NY): Walkaround tasting with the producers. An older bottle with 2002 base. Big orchard fruit, still nicely fresh while maturing gracefully, so more complexity has emerged. Very good depth and length. (579 views)
(1071 views)
Tasted by albertoelli on 4/12/2023 & rated 92 points: Elegant
Full body -> Pinot Noir 45% Chard 33% Meunier 22% (1028 views)
Tasted by Nollerman on 3/12/2023 & rated 91 points: Nice (902 views)
Tasted by Necowine on 1/13/2023 & rated 87 points: Yeah, a nice enough champagne, and not wanting for acidity or crispness. Does a good champagne job. Feeling like it's been a little while since I've had something like a Gosset, for example. (894 views)
Tasted by Paul852 on 12/5/2022 & rated 91 points: 45/33/22 PN/C/PM, 32% from the perpetual reserve, 20% vinified in old wood. With 3 years en cave and a disgorgement of August 2021, I infer a 2017 base. Dosage is 5.5g/l, putting it right at the top of extra-brut and at a level many producers would label as brut.

The nose offers minerality, and citrus tending towards pineapple and hints of tangerine. The palate is initially citrus with a complexity of fruit flavours, some slightly sweet tropical notes waft by. This is undoubtedly the fullest, fruitiest "extra-brut" that I can recall, but not at all cloying. The finish is crisp and cleansing, despite the fruit that went before. With air some creaminess appears on the nose, and slightly earthier notes also enter into the mix on the palate.

Overall this is an excellent and interesting fizz. Approachable enough that casual drinkers won't be put off, but offering lots of interest as well. It's decent QPR at the ~US$42 that I paid. (1116 views)
Tasted by Mchiarot on 11/25/2022 & rated 89 points: Typical Paillard, good value, and lovely. A bit sweet and unidimensional but at this price point it is a standout in my opinion. (689 views)
Tasted by abc55 on 10/30/2022 & rated 93 points: Moden med kagenoter; men dog med syrekick. Crowdpleaser, men interessant. (762 views)
Tasted by tobyc on 8/5/2022 & rated 80 points: Light fruity and pop-sicle, banana nose. Light fruit. One-dimensional on the palate. (887 views)
Tasted by ploher on 7/22/2022: Dg 21. Rock solid showing from the "basic" Paillard again with yellow apples and some red berry elements from the Pinot I guess. This is always a fine showcase of the housestyle: pure, mineral, but never (too) challenging or austere. Will age quite well I guess. Good QPR. 17/20 (767 views)
Tasted by …. on 6/11/2022 & rated 92 points: Disgorged Nov. 2021. The blend is 45% Pinot, 33% Chardonnay and 22% Meunier. A fresh wine, with a good structure. Medium to medium+ acidity, beautifully integrated. It delivers a lot of lemon, white peaches, a clear toasty note, a floral tone as well and definitely apples. The balance is really good, the length decent and the aftertaste pleasant. Clearly some good winemaking here and a good buy QPR vice for sure. A very solid 92. (811 views)
Tasted by maxima on 5/28/2022 & rated 89 points: Super vineux et bien franc.
Citrons, silex, biscuits et fleurs.
Assez long en finale avec une belle allonge.
Très bon. (1276 views)
Tasted by kostaslonis on 2/28/2022: Vinoultoura portfolio tasting (Oinoscent): 22% Pinot Meunier, 33% Chardonnay, 45% Pinot Noir, 40% reserve, less than 5.5gr
The wine shows medium intensity, smoky, citrus, tight, lemon leaf, nutty
Palate with carbonation that gets lost immediately, high acidity, some bitter almond, walnut, light body, lacks depth and concentration, citrus, aggressive, medium finish (358 views)
Tasted by Obi-Wan Cannubi on 2/27/2022 & rated 90 points: Strågul.

Veldig godt! (848 views)
Tasted by Schönibert on 10/22/2021: Sehr dicht, sehr reif, sehr gut.
Börsenwein mit Mike. (835 views)
(986 views)

France - When it comes to wine, France stands alone. No other country can beat it in terms of consistent quality and diversity. And while many of its Region, Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne most obviously, produce wine as rare, as sought-after and nearly as expensive as gold, there are just as many obscurities and values to be had from little known appellations throughout the country. To learn everything there is to know about French wine would take a lifetime. To understand and appreciate French wine, one only has to begin tasting them. Click for a list of bestselling items from all of France.
Sub-Region:

Champagne - The French region of Champagne (including the cities of Rheims, Épernay, and Aÿ) was the first region in the world to make sparkling wine in any quantity. Today, the name of the region is synonymous with the finest of all sparkling wines, and wine-making traditions of Champagne have become role models for sparkling wine producers, worldwide. Surprisingly, the region of Champagne is now responsible for only one bottle in 12 of all sparkling wine produced. Styles of champagne range in sweetness ranging from an extra brut or brut 0, to the basic brut to demi sec to doux; some houses produce single vintage champagnes and others produce non-vintage (or incorporate wines/grapes of multiple vintages), often to preserve a specific taste; combinations of grape varietals; and colors, including a rosé. There are several sub-appellations, including the Valley of the Marnes river running from Épernay west, Massif de Saint-Thierry north and west of Rheims, Valley of the Ardre, the Mountains of Rheims (between Rheims and Épernay), Côte des Blancs, Côte de Sézanne, and Côte des Bar in the South. Champagne wine only uses three grape varietals (cépages): Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier.
