Tasted by VlgJeff on 4/15/2019 & rated 88 points: Flying Goat Cellars Tasting (Vandewater, NYC): At a tasting - from an open bottle.
Straw color. Citrus and yeast notes on the nose. The palate yields lemon, peach, good acidity, and is noticeably yeasty. It has a small bubble, delicate mousse. (444 views)
Tasted by Roger Patterson on 5/7/2018 & rated 85 points: Perfectly drinkable but lacking in definite character or weight (483 views)
Tasted by PeterFromThePan on 3/17/2018 & rated 92 points: Last of two bottles. still very enjoyable. Creamy texture, small bubbles, with some oak. Subtle white peach flavors. This style is one of my favorite goat bubble offerings ... and it happens to be one of their cheaper ones. At over $40, it’s still a splurge though. (362 views)
Tasted by PeterFromThePan on 1/21/2018 & rated 93 points: This was very tasty. Has an excellent creamy velvety texture. Small bubbles. Ripe pears. On the drier site. Really enjoyed this. (391 views)

2015 Flying Goat Cellars Pinot Blanc Crémant Goat Bubbles Sierra Madre Vineyard

WINEMAKER NOTES
Our 2015 Crémant is made from the peppy Pinot Blanc clone 159 from Sierra Madre Vineyard in the Santa Maria Valley AVA. From a winemaking standpoint, Pinot Blanc from Santa Maria Valley produces elegant fruit forward still wines and we decided to try it in a sparkler. This is our sixth vintage of Crémant and we have noticed consistency in the vineyard each year. Pinot Blanc grape is a white wine grape that is a point genetic mutation of Pinot Noir. Pinot Noir is genetically unstable and will occasionally experience a point mutation in which a vine bears all black fruit except for one cane which produced white fruit. We include this grape in our portfolio because it fits with our love of working with Pinot Noir. Also, the vibrant fresh fruit flavors and refreshing acidity of Pinot Blanc make it a perfect grape for sparkling wine.

Varietal character (Appellation America)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
