Tasted by Mrbuzz on 2/26/2024 & rated 97 points: It's been awhile since I've had a GC Leflaive, and a young version at that. Really looking forward to trying this one and it was a beauty! First nose..."DAMN SON...is this an Oregon Chard" I jokingly called out. Beautifully clean match strike reduction with a hit of citrus, dried candied fruits, caramel corn...Mmmmmm Leflaive! So rich and intense with flavor, yet there was this crispness and weightlessness to it. Bright and energized lemon/tangerine citrus squeeze...tropical grilled pineapple, sauteed apples...again with all great chards for me...that dry extract, the white flower, crushed rock minerality...salty and waxy...such purity and balance...elegantly full bodied. I just loved it! Wish I could put this in my current tuesday weekly rotation! ;-) (752 views)

I like all wines from Leflaive from 2017. Fine, elegant and powerful likewise. Nice way of reduction. Some popcorn, but creamier than for e.g. Roulot or CD. 98 (1298 views)
Tasted by aquacongas on 9/16/2023 & rated 98 points: blind
I guessed Leflaive BM. I love this nose, some nuts, reductive, discreet popcorn. Everything in balance. Very good stage to drink it now. 98-99 (1356 views)
Tasted by Papies on 6/10/2023 & rated 94 points: A pre-50 pre Birthday Celebration; 6/9/2023-6/11/2023 (Around Zurich Area): Tasted blind and was the selection of the Sommelier of Taverne Zum Schafli, Wigoltingen. We went for 5yr old Puligny-Montrachet from a semi modernist like Lucien Le Moine as the smoky/toasty oak was very much in the forefront. And there lies for us the issue with this wine at this stage and hence our 94 in what otherwise is a magnificent wine. The toasty oak and the bright citrus render the wine a touch one dimensional and rob it of the magic. We feel this needs another 3-5 years to shed this and then will be hopefully in the higher 90s . Great to see the premox issues behind this great estate. 93-94 (1702 views)
Tasted by Ben Christiansen on 4/27/2023: More bright and focused and bright and crisp. (1692 views)
Tasted by Michael Hung on 7/6/2022 & rated 95 points: 7/6/2022 Double Blind Night at Kevin's: [Tasted double blind]
Pronounced intensity, immediately reductive, sulfur, oak/cedar, baking spices, lean orchard fruit, unripe apple, unripe white peaches, very pure and focused fruit, minerality notes, slate, salinity (ocean breeze). High acid, Med+ body, dry, long finish. This is the antithesis of my experience with a lot of Chardonnays. Extremely focused and lean, expert oak integration, amazing concentration that I have not seen in many Chardonnays (especially Californian). Incredibly reductive, incredibly complex, and very new to me. A spectacular wine, just showing its surgeon precision terroir and winemaking style. Sadly, it was a little hard to concentrate on this after the Keller G-Max... This improved in the glass, so some air would be great if opening now. 93-96 pts (2319 views)
Tasted by BradE on 6/12/2022: The 2017 Domaine Leflaive Chevalier is young but oh so good. A wine of today, tomorrow, and forever I suspect. (1846 views)
Tasted by shifter on 6/11/2022 & rated 97 points: Pre-2002 Rousseau Dinner (WS NYC): Late entry. Decanted. This is much more open than the last time I had it a couple of years ago. It's relaxed quite a bit and the acid and fruit have come into much more of a balance. A great drink, just crushable. So glad that I stocked up before prices went through the roof. (2133 views)
Tasted by BradE on 4/6/2022: Decanted briefly, then drunk slowly over 3-4 hours. My first experience with 2017 Leflaive Chevalier and it was superb. (1781 views)
Tasted by aquacongas on 11/7/2021 & rated 97 points: blind
We had it after the BBM 2017. More elegant and filigree but very similar. For me not really a big difference to be able to distinguish them. Perfectly balanced even in this young stage. Oak is perfectly integrated and not too much reductive. The popcorn is in the background and the citric aromas are dominating. 97-98 (2205 views)
Tasted by Rouyi on 10/24/2021 & rated 97 points: Extreme complexity with balance of yellow fruits, white flowers, oaky contents such as nuts, butter and toasted bread. The energetic minerality, refreshing smoke and spice reach you on the first nose and in the last minute reemerge on the palate. Immense and powerful. Masculine but gentle. Young, magnificent and evolving.

Tasted by Harley1199 on 3/7/2021: Just a few drops of a single bottle opened two hours ago. Very closed on the nose, memories of river stones and notes of metal predominate. Also a pastry oven, jasmine and soft dairy. Layered velvety texture full of muscle. Citrus acidity and lots of energy. That terroir sensation does not leave you at any time. Surprisingly ready at this point (some merengue note) but above all promises an aristocratic decadence. I’m lucky to be able to taste this bottle.

(1988 views)
Tasted by aquacongas on 12/3/2020 & rated 97 points: blind
a friend of mine nailed it. I only knew it was a great Young Burgundy. Because of the reductive style I guessed d'Auvenay. Pocorn, Lemon and some nuts. A Baby but great to drink in this stage. 97+ (2429 views)
Tasted by etyc on 11/20/2020: Decanted in Voss bottle for 7-8hrs before pouring, this still had a tinge of reduction that took a while (and some swirling) to blow off in the glass. What followed was an almost noble scent of white-flowers, lemons & bits of chalk. White/yellow fruited with lots of dry/mineral extract, the palate was nothing short of stunning with so much intensity and tension (which was still coiled, waiting to explode) - almost electric & full of energy. Long tailed finish with a touch of salinity that led some to guess that this was a PYCM. Incredible, and I can't imagine how great this will even be with more cellar time! (1971 views)
Tasted by Burgundy Al on 7/1/2019 & rated 96 points: Domaine Leflaive Cellar Visit and Tasting (Puligny-Montrachet): Tasted at the domaine. A very impressive vintage for this cuvee. Yellow and green apple with sweet spice and a hint of lemon meringue. So bright, so energetic with a mineral and saline character middle-through-finish that I adore. So much energy. Great now, with impressive 96+ point potential. (4566 views)
Tasted by dcwino on 6/11/2019 & rated 98 points: Five winos excellent adventure , mostly in Burgundy; 6/7/2019-6/15/2019 (Beaune, France): Exquisite nose displaying perfectly ripe fresh white fruit, pear, apple, lemon, candied lemon peel, a hint of flint, subtle sweet spices and limestone. Already showing unbelievable finesse and balance, very finely layered pure white fruit, very precise and detailed, bright acidity, strong limestone mineral and a seamless long pure white fruit driven finish. Drinking incredibly well but can improve for two decades or more. For my palate, clearly the best wine. Perhaps Leflaive is at the top once again! (4671 views)

Burgundy

Les vins de Bourgogne (Bureau interprofessionnel des vins de Bourgogne) (and in English)

Burgundy - The province of eastern France, famous for its red wines produced from Pinot Noir and its whites produced from Chardonnay. (Small of amounts of Gamay and Aligoté are still grown, although these have to be labeled differently.) The most famous part of the region is known as the Cote d'Or (the Golden Slope). It is divided into the Cote de Beaune, south of the town of Beaune (famous principally for its whites), and the Cote de Nuits, North of Beaune (home of the most famous reds). In addition, the Cote Chalonnaise and the Maconnais are important wine growing regions, although historically a clear level (or more) below the Cote d'Or. Also included by some are the regions of Chablis and Auxerrois, farther north.

# 2013 Vintage Notes:
* "2013 is a vintage that 20 years ago would have been a disaster." - Will Lyons
* "low yields and highly variable reds, much better whites." - Bill Nanson
* "Virtually all wines were chaptalised, with a bit of sugar added before fermentation to increase the final alcohol level." - Jancis Robinson

# 2014 Vintage Notes:
"We have not had such splendid harvest weather for many years. This will ensure high quality (fragrant, classy and succulent are words already being used) across the board, up and down the hierarchy and well as consistently from south to north geographically apart from those vineyards ravaged by the hail at the end of June." - Clive Coates

# 2015 Vintage Notes:
"Low yields and warm weather allowed for ample ripeness, small berries and an early harvest. Quality is looking extremely fine, with some people whispering comparisons with the outstanding 2005 vintage. Acid levels in individual wines may be crucial." - Jancis Robinson

# 2017 Vintage Notes:
"Chablis suffered greatly from frost in 2017, resulting in very reduced volumes. As ever, the irony seems to be that what remains is very good quality, as it is in the Côte d’Or. Cooler nights across the region have resulted in higher-than-usual acidity, with good conditions throughout the harvest season allowing for ripe, healthy fruit." - Jancis Robinson

# 2018 Vintage Notes:
"The most successful region for red Burgundy in 2018 was the Côte de Beaune. The weather was ideal in this area, with just enough sunlight and rain to produce perfectly balanced wines naturally." - Vinfolio
