Tasted by MaxRad on 2/13/2024 & rated 92 points: full of fruit and tannins, but balanced and not cloying. has integrated very well over past 3 years. in window now. (397 views)
Tasted by Ernestas on 4/1/2023 & rated 91 points: Vertical tasting of Braida Bricco dell’Uccellone Barbera d’Asti. Wine #4/5. Made from single vineyard of Rocchetta Tanaro, aged for 12 months in used oak and 12 months in bottle. Deep ruby colour. Pronounced and rich aroma of black cherries, violets, blackberries, balsamic, liquorice, hints of roasted hazelnuts. Full body, powerful but also most elegant from all vintages tasted, flavours of red and black fruits, chocolate, medium+ acidity, low silky tannins. (1011 views)
Tasted by jusuf on 1/12/2023 & rated 92 points: Typical Uccelone coffee flavour. Strawberry jam, coffee and a little vanilla. Very easy and good to drink. (1030 views)
Tasted by Umay Ceviker on 6/5/2021 & rated 92 points: Ruby in colour fading just slightly at its narrow rim. Features hints of evolution as dried red berries and rosehip with just the right touch of oak that adds a layer of cedar and sweet spices. Beautiful precision and balance on the palate with plum and black cherry flavours wrapped in a velvety texture and supported by refreshing acidity. (2130 views)
Tasted by Gian on 9/24/2020 & rated 90 points: rosso rubino , frutta rossa e scura , spezie , in bocca corposo e ben integrato , i 16% gradi non sono sbilanciati , buona acidita' e lunghezza (3226 views)
Tasted by Ericsson on 8/6/2020: Bu sur 2 jours.
Très fruité à l’ouverture, alcool, fruits à l’eau de vie.
En bouche, c’est costaud, puissant mais je dois reconnaître que le vin est bien équilibré.
Not my cup of tea mais c’est du bon travail. (3068 views)
Tasted by stet on 5/30/2020 & rated 93 points: Color: dark ruby, bloody and fiery
Nose: ripe sour cherry. Apple and raspberry. Vanilla and violet. The intensity here though is worth mentioning. Really powerful.
Palate: well. There is a Barbera acidity here that takes no prisoners. Grippy barrel-like tannins. Dairy substrate. On top of it all reigns the sour cherry. Black berries are there too, and oak and vanilla, with perhaps clove.
Finish: long

This started the whole power Barbera movement, and it still is a deflagratingly powerful experience. This much barrel influence is indeed not my cup of tea usually but the Barbera acidity makes this just a deep deep experience. Color is insane, blood in a glass. I can pick up notes that shift for hours. (2961 views)
Tasted by wondersofwine on 4/28/2020: 16% abv. The cork was about 1/3" to 1/2" longer than normal and it was hard to extract with my lever-style corkscrew. This was impressive from the first sip. It was very rich in what I presume is a modern style. I have very little experience with Barbera so I don't have a basis for comparison as to traditional or modern style of the wine. Perhaps the closest grape for me to compare it to would be a Syrah. The wine is marked by raspberry and spice flavors with some tartness on the finish. I did notice some heat from the alcohol. It was best on the first evening open when I had it with a cheeseburger with sharp cheddar cheese. It was a rather expensive wine and I'm not sure I would purchase it again even though I enjoyed it. 92-93 pts. on first evening. (2945 views)
Tasted by Zweder on 1/19/2020 & rated 92 points: Dark berries, beautiful smoke and toast and a lot of sweet spices in the bouquet. Same on the palate, vanilla, beautiful acidity and round tannin with a soft bite. Inviting wine already. (2307 views)
Tasted by EMAZurich on 11/29/2019 & rated 94 points: Frischfruchtiges, violettstichiges Blutrot, etwas trüber Eindruck.
Tolle Struktur, elegantissimo!
Eine wirkliche Kaufempfehlung, das hat 25+ jähriges Potential. (1762 views)
Tasted by burlingtonm on 4/20/2019 & rated 93 points: WOTN at the Wine Watch tasting of Braida wines and a revelation for me compared to my previous experience of the Barbera grape. This was intense, rich with great length and already drinkable: all in all a wonderful expression of the Barbera grape (1814 views)
Tasted by dvansteenderen on 1/20/2019 & rated 94 points: Walk around tasting. Ridiculously good Barbera, what a delicious wine already at this stage. Bought some cases immediately! Recently tasted a 1983 Bricco dell' Uccelonne which was also masterful... (1718 views)
Tasted by vespasian on 10/10/2018: Deep coloured, a little hint of fade at the rim; very dark in the nose, almost figgy fruits. Dark chocolate ganache. Cigar, tobacco leaf; lovey freshness on the palate, good weight, tannins are very fine, a little but grainy on the finish. Violet and clove spice on the finish. Almost a Pinot like perfume on returning to the glass. Very long. (1406 views)

Varietal character (Wikipedia English)
Barbera is a red wine variety, originally from Italy, which is best known as the second-most important Piedmontese variety after Nebbiolo. The wines made of this grape are mainly the everyday drinking wines of the region. The main appellations producing Barbera are Asti and Alba.

Barbera - The most widely grown red wine grape of Piedmont and Southern Lombardy, most famously around the towns of Asti and Alba, and Pavia. The wines of Barbera were once simply "what you drank while waiting for the Barolo to be ready." With a new generation of wine makers, this is no longer the case. The wines are now meticulously vinified, aged Barbera gets the name "Barbera Superiore" (Superior Barbera), sometimes aged in French barrique becoming "Barbera Barricato", and intended for the international market. The wine has bright cherry fruit, a very dark color, and a food-friendly acidity.
