Tasted by nc7373 on 3/8/2019: Found some random old bottles in the back of the cellar, so we’re popping them all. This one, as would be expected, not good. (1148 views)
Tasted by Millennial Drinkers on 8/26/2017 & rated 88 points: Deep brick red. Lots of aged characteristics on the nose with soft dark fruits. Strong acidity and medium tannins (5/10). Medium bodied with dark red berries and balanced. Medium to medium plus finish. Drink till 2018. (1869 views)
Tasted by Wteverheart on 4/13/2014 & rated 87 points: Still good in 2014 (3370 views)
Tasted by kaupjh on 3/5/2014 & rated 89 points: Still good. (3417 views)
Tasted by Martens cellar on 11/2/2013 & rated 87 points: Surprisingly better than expected for drinking it in 2013. Soft, mild, and simple with a nice finish. (3990 views)
Tasted by Senso-beak on 8/22/2012 & rated 89 points: Pizza with the fam. PnP, didn't take detailed notes on color but was full bodied, with cherry and oak notes. Surprisingly lush and fruity, I was expecting far less. Nice tannins on the finish, full through the mid-palate. Black cherries, blackberry, and oak dominate. Better than anticipated. (3945 views)
Tasted by jonradus on 3/2/2012 & rated 85 points: Nose of raspberry liquer, coffee, and eucalyptus. There's also a little bit of hay. The taste is very sweet, primarily with cherry and cola. The finish is chocolaty, but pretty short. This really reminds me of a pinot. It's really light and zesty, and isn't your typical napa cab. Kind of wierd, but good. I wouldn't buy it again. (3626 views)
Tasted by HowardsinSanDiego on 11/12/2011 & rated 87 points: Fruity, soft, pleasant (2129 views)
Tasted by rhanke on 9/30/2011: great tasting (2527 views)
Tasted by ronscottf on 7/20/2009 & rated 87 points: Nice, but definitely at the end of it's prime window. Completely lacking in tannins. Fruity, but not jammy, overtones of sweetness but not complex. Mildly spicy. Drank with steak and garlic bread. (3449 views)
Tasted by wineshaman on 12/25/2008 & rated 87 points: This was lost in the back of my cellar for several years, opened christmas for my non wine drinking relatives. Surprised by the quality, lots of black fruit and wood, not much compexity but quite good. (2670 views)
Tasted by hammie1234 on 5/25/2008 & rated 84 points: Was a bit mellowed, tame version of a typical Cali Cab. Much better examples of Cali cabs elsewhere for the same price. (2837 views)
Tasted by marcb7 on 11/28/2007 flawed bottle: second one of the 6 i bought (3064 views)
Tasted by MGoldberg on 9/23/2007 & rated 84 points: Decanted - Nice nose after a few minutes. Black berries, a little tame, past it's prime. Slight pepper om the finish, about 10 sec. Nice wine, but lacking complexity. (3181 views)
Tasted by mzhousley on 9/22/2007 & rated 80 points: drink now. rounded tanins, little after bite. no complexity, but nice wine with lamb chops. (3258 views)
Tasted by jjlobi on 9/15/2007 & rated 90 points: Really liked this. No special characteristics, but a very nice tasting wine. (3172 views)
Tasted by pickhardt on 7/20/2007: No tasting notes or score. Recall the wine being fairly nice, though not spectacular. (3225 views)
Tasted by RichardZula on 4/22/2006: Very good, drank along side the 1998. I prefered the '98, Michele the '00. (3884 views)
Tasted by Senso-beak on 4/22/2005 & rated 88 points: Round, warm, flabby, sweet. Low acidity level. Decent for a 2000 cab, almost Zin like without the kick. (2544 views)
Tasted by peternelson on 12/29/2002 & rated 85 points: Au Bouchon: Ned body; leather; unimpressive plum fruit, pretty blah. (911 views)

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
