Tasted by Doc90 on 3/11/2023 & rated 88 points: Nose of wet paint and brandy. Slow-moving and quite enjoyable. Relaxing wood vibes. (296 views)
Tasted by RajivAyyangar on 11/10/2016: Broadbent - Madeira, Port, and English Bubbles (One Market, SF): Medium-minus ruby with a hint of garnet at the rim.
Stewed, baked fruit. Dried and stewed black cherry. Hint of tomato savoriness, and almost peppery reduction. The only Port so far with darker fruit. Well-integrated mushroomy oak. Reminds me of an aged Sagrantino - this is a red wine with development. Oak still has a bit of baking spice character, but is starting to integrate.
Structured, tannic (high tannins, grippy and chewy), RS gives it away as not Nebbiolo, but it has tendencies in that direction. Acid is medium plus. Not super dark-fruited in the mouth, but there’s savory development.
It’s like a very developed red wine with the structure of a young aggressive Nebbiolo.
Tasty. (2834 views)
Tasted by RajivAyyangar on 3/15/2016 flawed bottle: Broadbent Vinho Verde, Port, Madeira: Blend of vintage Ports in 5 years of oak.
Corked. (2557 views)
Tasted by RVARob on 8/6/2015 & rated 87 points: Nice easy drinking Port and good QPR (2289 views)
Tasted by peternelson on 11/25/2014 & rated 90 points: Nice, smooth, lovely balance, good fruit, fresh and dried raisins; rather simple but excellent mouth feel, freshness, and balance. Can't beat this for the price--great all-around high quality "everyday" port. (2512 views)
Tasted by dpolivy on 1/10/2014 & rated 89 points: Vindredi (Bellevue, WA): Some smoke and spice on the nose, perhaps even wood notes? Very ripe, red fruit, mostly slightly sweet red cherries, kirsch, and cherry liqueur. Light and elegant, though a bit simple. (2226 views)
Tasted by elise on 1/10/2014 & rated 88 points: good balance, relatively light, new "beach ball" nose, more wood than expected (2928 views)
Tasted by danielbleier on 7/1/2010 & rated 88 points: cocoa and black fruits, nice QPR for easy going port (2874 views)
Tasted by dubdub on 11/5/2008: Cocoa and red berries, solid. (2889 views)
Tasted by wino_tim on 2/3/2008 & rated 87 points: Fresh and fairly clean with a nice note of black licorice running through it. (2606 views)
Tasted by andrewstevenson.com on 5/22/2007 & rated 87 points: Broadbent Wines (LIWSF, London): From a freshly opened bottle. It has quite a slight nose, with the Douro fruit characters opening up slowly. This is a good basic ruby. Very Good. (3058 views)
Tasted by nomadfromcincy on 1/31/2007: Tasted with Bartholomew Broadbent at Haas class.
Slight chocolate flavor with strawberries. Rich. The peppery aroma shows a little alcohol note. (2577 views)

Port Blend

Over a hundred varieties of grapes (castas) are sanctioned for port production, although only five (Tinta Barroca, Tinto Cão, Tinta Roriz (Tempranillo), Touriga Francesa, and Touriga Nacional) are widely cultivated and used.
