Pronounced nose intensity with notes of black fruits, spices, blackcurrant. (474 views) | | Tasted by BPaff on 1/7/2024 & rated 93 points: Plums, dried cranberries, dark cherries, mocha/chocolate, licorice, tobacco and wood spice, some leather and turned earth. (747 views) | | Tasted by fingers on 10/30/2023 & rated 94 points: Notes after 4 hours in decanter. Brownish-ruby color, about 60% opaque, no sediment. Profound nose of pipe tobacco, lavender and other floral aspects, paint and perfume. Tannic, acidic, but beautiful . This is just a baby and I suggest waiting another few years unless you have more than a few. It's still a gorgeous drink if you want to follow it over a day or two. 5+13+18+8= 94 (1328 views) | | Tasted by fdebos on 10/7/2023: Hout en tabak, hoog in tannine. mooie wijn, maar wellicht nog enige jaren wachten. We willen hem drinken met mijn verjaardagsdiner. Decanteren vooralsnog een must. (1050 views) | | Tasted by Barolo Freak on 9/16/2023 & rated 85 points: My first time tasting a DCC Brunello, and I'm not impressed. I decanted my wine, and let it breathe for three hours. The 2016 DCC Brunello tastes of dried Cherry, and Tobacco. The wine is very earthy. I sipped it over three evenings and I did not detect any improvement. Is it worth $60 a bottle? No Signore! (1102 views) | | Tasted by AB16 on 8/22/2023 & rated 94 points: Consistent with previous notes. I love this wine. Especially with Carbonara (1152 views) | | Tasted by AB16 on 5/20/2023 & rated 94 points: I love this wine, and we drank it with spaghetti carbonara. Earth driven with great fruit throughout. Wonderful spice and complexity and plenty of acid. For my palate this wine is drinking very well now and should age another 10+ years. (1042 views) | | Tasted by Nutty08 on 11/18/2022 & rated 93 points: Quite expressive. Dried black cherry notes with a hint of mint. Coarse tannins on the palate but with food were quite integrated. Finish is lengthy if a bit dry. Best to hold this a 3-5yrs and let it soften. Good makeup and structure. (1555 views) | | Tasted by Double-A on 10/18/2022 & rated 90 points: Garnet colour. Dried cherry, leather, and marmalade nose. Full and flavourful palate with firm, dry tannins; gripping, assertive finish. 4/5 (1350 views) | | Tasted by Graniwinkle on 5/5/2022 & rated 87 points: Crisp, smoke, musty cedar, dark cherry, smooth tannin. Good food wine. (1624 views) | | Tasted by fdebos on 3/27/2021 & rated 95 points: Zoete rode kersen en zwarte bessen, melkchocolade, ceder, balsamico, specerijen en een vleugje truffel. Zilt, zoete tannines. krachtig met lange afdronk. (3210 views) | | Tasted by Suzanne B. on 1/11/2021 & rated 94 points: Enticing deep ruby red with good consistency. On the nose, complex with hints of licorice, cherries under spirits, charred wood, a hint of tobacco, cloves. On the palate, its full body makes its presence known, high alcohol, good acidity (which means it will age beautifully!) and long finish. Elegant. Excellent paired with aged cheese or a nice succulent beef stew. (2625 views) |

| Donatella Cinelli Colombini Producer websiteSangioveseSANGIOVESE: (Pronounced "sahn-joh-vhe-se"). Sangiovese - Italy's claim to fame, the pride of Tuscany. Traditionally made, the wines are full of cherry fruit, earth, and cedar. It produces Chianti (Classico), Rosso di Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino, Rosso di Montepulciano, Montefalco Rosso, and many others. Sangiovese is also the backbone in many of the acclaimed, modern-styled "Super-Tuscans", where it is blended with Bordeaux varietals (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc) and typically aged in French oak barrels, resulting a wine primed for the international market in the style of a typical California cabernet: oaky, high-alcohol, and a ripe, jammy, fruit-forward profile.[16]
Semi-classic grape grown in the Tuscany region of Italy. Used to produce the Chianti and other Tuscan red wines. Has many clonal versions, two of which seem to predominate. The Sangiovese Grosso clone Brunello variety is used for the dark red, traditionally powerful and slow-maturing "Brunello di Montalcino" wine. The other is the Sangiovese Piccolo, also known under the historical synonym name Sangioveto, used for standard Chianti Classico DOC wines. Old vine derived wine is often used in the better versions, needing several years ageing to reach peak. A third clone, Morellino, is used in a popular wine blend with the same name found in the southern part of the province. Recent efforts in California with clones of this variety are very promising, producing medium-bodied reds with rich cherry or plumlike flavors and aromas. Among the available clonal versions are R6 and R7, derived from the Montalcino region of Italy, having average productivity/ripening and producing small berries on medium size clusters. R10 and R24 are well-recommended. R23, listed as deriving from the Emilia-Romagna region, has good vigor with medium-small clusters with earlier ripening. R102 derives from the Montepulciano region and reported to have average vigor with moderate productivity that results in higher sugar levels and good acidity from medium-small berries on medium-small clusters. Has synonym name of Nielluccio where grown in Corsica.Italy Italian Wines (ItalianMade.com, The Italian Trade Commission) | Italian Wine Guide on the WineDoctorTuscany Tuscany (ItalianMade.com) | TuscanytMontalcino Montalcino websiteBrunello di Montalcino Consorzio del Vino Brunello di Montalcino (Official DOCG website) |
