Community Tasting Notes (average 89.2 pts. and median of 89 pts. in 23 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by randyjc on 1/14/2022 & rated 90 points: Given its price point, this is an excellent buy. After I opened and drank some, I made some notes then went back to compare my impressions with Galloni’s in August of 2019. The wine retains the same core sangio characteristics he noted (cherry, plum, cedar, etc) but has clearly smoothed out. It is no longer rustic or burly or any of those kinds of descriptors. Rather, it is open and elegant and entirely enjoyable - especially keeping in mind a price below $20. One of the unusual Garagiste mystery purchases that overdelivered. (1327 views)
Tasted by SuperSomm on 8/22/2021: Deep ruby red colour. Pronounced nose with dark plum, blackberry, oak, tobacco, leather, cocoa and violet. Medium (+) taste with dark plum, blackberry, black cherry, chocolate, cocoa, sweet leather, sweet tobacco and licorice. Long and dry finish. Medium (+) acidity. Medium (+) tannins. Medium body. A very good and well aged Chianti Classico that is still quite young. Needed two hours of air to open. Drink now or over the next five years. Goes well with beef, lamb or pork. (316 views)
Tasted by wgilbert3 on 7/7/2021 & rated 89 points: Nice CC. Good balance and very good flavors at this price point (1481 views)
Tasted by wgilbert3 on 6/26/2021 & rated 88 points: Nice CC overall. Typical dusty notes on the nose along with some red fruit. Palate is well balanced: went great with chicken parm and spaghetti. Good value (I bought it on sale) (1564 views)
Tasted by wgilbert3 on 2/20/2021 & rated 88 points: PnP. A bit harsh at first though nothing terrible. Improved as it was open with typical CC herbal and dark fruit notes on the nose, medium body with good balance. Dusty notes on the palate along with mix of red and dark fruit. Goodvalue. (1626 views)
Tasted by CCestaro on 1/21/2021 & rated 91 points: This got a venturi into the decanter and a two hour pause before tasting. It's well rounded and flavorful, with cherry and plum fruits and a bit of soft leather and earth notes. I find it drinkable now with the above added, but I can see it being less involved as a PNP. Decent QPR. (1433 views)
Tasted by NSzuflita on 12/28/2020: Clear. Deep garnet. Med legs
Clean. Med + red cherries, strawberries, red plum, oregano. Vanilla. Leather. Developing
Palate: dry, med acid, med + tannin, med alcohol, med + body. Pronounced strawberries, red plum, red cherries, tomato leaf. Vanilla. Med + finish.
Overall good. Lacks in some tertiary notes. Mate develop over time. Drink now or hold. (1226 views)
Tasted by Mtorigian on 12/19/2020 & rated 90 points: Paired with venison backstraps excellently. Little strong with first taste then smoothed out perfectly wirhin 30 mins. Mixed berries and dry (989 views)
Tasted by tjbsmf on 10/28/2020 & rated 88 points: Ripe red cherry, violets, mint. A bit thin; bitter; mouth drying tannin. Nice weeknight wine with food. (1101 views)
Tasted by jpp10780 on 10/9/2020 & rated 86 points: Eh...not the qpr that I was led to believe. A bit tart cherry taste...nose felt lighter than most Chianti from 2016. Fine with my pasta dinner at home but you can do better. (877 views)
Tasted by navybrat on 6/30/2020 & rated 90 points: Excellent price value. (1195 views)

Sangiovese Blend

Sangiovese blend is used in CellarTracker for Italian wines to represent wines predominantly made of Sangiovese and blended with traditional Italian grapes. It is different than SuperTuscan which is a blend of Sangiovese with non-traditional (eg Bordeaux) varieties, often in closer to equal portions. For example, Chianti is at least 80% Sangiovese and will always be listed Sangiovese blend.
