Tasted by amateurwino on 8/20/2015 & rated 83 points: Like the other bottles, meh. (1203 views)
Tasted by amateurwino on 12/28/2014 & rated 86 points: Decent bottle, correct with a bit of earth. (1391 views)
Tasted by John Nezlek on 2/10/2013 & rated 85 points: Perfectly decent simple wine. Similar to a few others, I got this for a song, and so it was an excellent QPR. (1853 views)
Tasted by Vinomane on 12/15/2009 & rated 87 points: Last bottle of a case from Zachy's $5 clearance. Consistent notes: cherry forward, even some tarry notes, little structure, not for the long haul. Works with lighter Italian fare, but can't stand up to a potent papardelle Bolognese. For the price, great value in an easy and pleasant gulper, Old World style. (2593 views)
Tasted by DaleW on 2/25/2009: Warm ripe cherries and plums, on the rounder side of Chianti, could use some more acidic vim and vigor. Still, it's clean and unflawed, and it was $5. B-/C+, but still ok value. (2751 views)
Tasted by JorgeH on 2/10/2009 & rated 85 points: A fleshier and rounder bottle. Sweet notes of cherry and plum. Acidity kept it well balanced. With time in the glass, became a little thinner and tart. A gulper. (1907 views)
Tasted by Squirreljam on 12/8/2008: I'm either the unluckiest person I know or this wine is plain bad. From Zachy's blowout @$5 I bought a case; so far four btls have been bad, with no fruit whatsoever and charmless tart iron acidity. The one reasonable note I've gotten has been earth, which others have noted. The first couple times I had this, just thought I'd gotten a couple low level corked bottles in a row, not unheard of from Italian wines. But four?!? And they've all been consistent with the above description. (1692 views)
Tasted by JorgeH on 9/28/2008 & rated 84 points: Loads of acidity with bright red cherry and a bit of earth on the nose. Mouth puckering and refreshing. Definitely needs food (meaty sauce on pasta or some beef). (1532 views)
Tasted by DaleW on 8/23/2008: There's nothing complicated here- straightforward black cherries and plums, maybe just a hint of vanilla-y oak. In time maybe a hint of tobacco, but this is a fruit driven wine, with enough acidity to keep lively. Simple mid-modern Chianti, but at the whopping price of $5 (Zachys case sale) I'm not complaining! B/B- (1238 views)
Tasted by DaleW on 8/16/2008 flawed bottle: Good dark cherry fruit, moderate acidity, light tannins. But something musty this way comes, and I reluctantly conclude this is corked. (1239 views)
Tasted by jwolf99 on 4/25/2008: licorice, cherry, cedar aromas and flavoes; medium body, fine tannins, smooth finish (1369 views)
Tasted by dougsmith on 4/4/2008 & rated 88 points: Deep ruby color. Nose of sweet black cherry, dust, smoke and violets. Good presence on the palate, earthy and rich with youthful tannins. This is still a baby and fine QPR. (1311 views)
Tasted by JOsgood on 11/2/2007 & rated 88 points: My previous note holds true. Super dry wine that drinks easy. Vibrant fruit, some earth and a touch of wood on the finish. Fantastic QPR. One last glass left and it still drank great 5 nights later thanks to the Vacu Vin. (1641 views)
Tasted by JOsgood on 9/23/2007 & rated 88 points: I bought this bottle after tasting it at Zachy's in New York. Really easy drinking wine that is a bargain at $14 a bottle. Bright fruit that is finishes nice and clean. Made without the influence of oak. Great table wine. (1767 views)

Sangiovese Blend

Sangiovese blend is used in CellarTracker for Italian wines to represent wines predominantly made of Sangiovese and blended with traditional Italian grapes. It is different than SuperTuscan which is a blend of Sangiovese with non-traditional (eg Bordeaux) varieties, often in closer to equal portions. For example, Chianti is at least 80% Sangiovese and will always be listed Sangiovese blend.
