Tasted by df1962 on 10/14/2023 & rated 91 points: PnD let air for 1hr.

Consumed over two night.

Consistent with previous notes. But this bottle was showing some age. Don’t wait drink up. (857 views)
Tasted by JoeMe on 8/18/2023 & rated 91 points: My first note for this wine despite having had over a case of this over the last three years. Good typcidity, getting dark fruit, tobacco, wet forest floor and subtle oak on the nose. More dark fruit, sweet cherry, chalk, leather on the palate. Soft tannins, medium acidity, very well balanced. Good with and without food. Drinking really well now, but should continue to be just fine for a few more years. 91-92 (834 views)
Tasted by df1962 on 4/22/2023 & rated 91 points: PnD let air for 1hr.

Consistent with previous note. Depth with freshness. (1202 views)

Tasted by Purple Tooth on 12/5/2022 & rated 92 points: I kant believe that I had lost track of these and certainly delighted to reconnect with these lads.
I like drinking Chianti when I am cooking. Its easy, its versatile, old world and fruity, giving it the perfect mediumness (just invented the word). But....i took a nap, woke up, had some pumpkin pie, cracked some pistachios, and poured the last glass after 4 hours and I, was in Bordeaux? It was a thrilling surprise and I couldn't stop sniffing the glass as it was throwing unmistakable tobacco and brewed coffee, and hints of tartaric acid that I associate with these Italian table wines. Really just a lovely wine that deserves a 3 hour or longer decant or should be sipped alongside 2 or more modest wines, going back and forth, over a long period of daytime drinking! Drink with Decant (2182 views)
Tasted by asgerG on 5/1/2022 & rated 90 points: PnP. Dark red,5.5. Generous classic bouquet with spicy cask notes. Well balanced palate, h-T, h-A, mB, fine fruity spicy finish. Drink now-2026. (2130 views)
Tasted by dead puddle on 3/6/2022 & rated 92 points: Pnp. Taste at 14°C. Very dark hue. Superb nose of iron, blood, mature red and blackberries, cedar, cinnamon, and light vanilla stick. Mouth is so seductive, first deep berries, old oak a,d under forest bushes. Structure still standing bitter low bitter, acceptable acidity, and polished tannins. Medium to light bodied, long finish. Drink now at his apogee. (2118 views)
Tasted by D_RICH on 2/18/2022 & rated 90 points: 1 and 1/2 hour decant. Tell tale sangiovese nose, spice, burnt red fruits. Full bodied and concentrated, balanced, cherries. Nice finish. The 2015 was a very nice vintage for this very consistent wine and offers a high Q2P ratio. (1956 views)
Tasted by Rune Schwartz on 2/3/2022 & rated 88 points: Nose: Red/dark fruits and spices. Good notes from the oak.

Palate: Like the nose with more clearly cherries. Medium+ acid and medium\+ tannins. Dry and dusty. Not very complex but well balanced due to the good ageing.

The to much oak is no longer an issue. It was a good disposition to give this bottle 2+ more years than my first bottle which was to oaky back then. (704 views)
Tasted by Dr Otto on 1/1/2022 & rated 90 points: Fragrant and fresh with judicious amount of oak. Decent complexity. Nice acidity and still a slight chew to the tannins. I’ve discovered I quite like my Sangiovese in this semi-developed stage, with a good structural “bite”, so to me it’s definitely ready to go. Good with venison steak. (1780 views)
Tasted by Ralphie1 on 11/7/2021 & rated 90 points: Great structure - will benefit from more time. (2149 views)
Tasted by Whitman on 9/29/2021 & rated 92 points: Nice nose with sweet cherries, tobacco, mocca and a herbal note. Medium bodied with nice tannins, sweet fruit ending in a pretty long and a little dry finish, but still with delicious sweet cherries. Nice mouthfeel and best on the pretty intense finish. (2155 views)
Tasted by CWilliam on 8/21/2021 & rated 92 points: PNP - drank over 2 nights. Still good on night 2. Black/red in the glass. herbal, black cherry, tobacco, sweet cherry on on nose - palate was similar. Medium body, medium acidity, medium tannins and long finish. Very plush palate feel. Very enjoyable. 92+/-

Tasted by Akelly444 on 4/5/2021 & rated 88 points: Sour, wanted more fruit. (2624 views)
Tasted by Kris G on 2/20/2021 & rated 90 points: Rustic showing of the Sangiovese grape with a lot of fresh red fruits. At the end of the middle part a lot of bitters show, but not in negative way, it is more an expression of its surface and riping-process, but it just disturbs the balance a fraction too much to give a 91 score, but still excellent QPR! (2481 views)
Tasted by chezbeach on 9/23/2020 & rated 92 points: Terrific! Well balanced and smooth. Wish we had more. (3069 views)
Tasted by dsgris on 8/30/2020 & rated 92 points: Inky dark ruby, reserved nose on opening. Dry with medium fruit, light acid and tannins in a well balanced, reserved style. Starting to open with an hour, showing a nice tannin structure for the acid and fruit. (3112 views)
Tasted by D_RICH on 8/29/2020 & rated 90 points: No contemporaneous notes. Two hour decant. Drinking nicely. A very well made, balanced Chianti. (2879 views)
Tasted by chrisdgsmith@hotmail.co.uk on 8/18/2020 & rated 90 points: Good colour, still very youthful. Classic bitter cherry fruit palate but there's breadth too and I think this will develop nicely. Plenty of chalky tannin still and decent acidity. Decant if drinking now but better still, stick these away for 2-4 years. (2681 views)
Tasted by AllRed on 8/9/2020 & rated 92 points: Second Sunday Group: 2015 Chianti Classico Riservas (Eagle Brook CC): Blind. A bit earthy, almost stemmy in a good way, with dark and red berry fruit. Currant and black cherry fruit with nice balance. Floral notes and hints of spice as well. Pretty; elegant.

My #2, Domino's #7
Group #1, 27 pts (2806 views)
Tasted by rickspicks on 7/9/2020 & rated 90 points: Beginning to develop some complexity behind the dar fruit flavors. Medium bodied with some rough edges and a hint of tar. (2367 views)
Tasted by fitchbuck on 6/16/2020 & rated 88 points: Decanted, then drunk over a couple nights. Middling Chianti w/ little excitement factor; certainly expected more. 88-89 (2307 views)
Tasted by HU on 6/8/2020 & rated 92 points: Opened and poured through an aerator on a hot spring night. Pleasant acidity, figs and honey, minerality, red and dark cherry, some drying tannins, smooth. Light to medium body. Perfectly enjoyable to drink now. Probably can also last for a couple of years. (2473 views)
Tasted by oliverbannier on 6/5/2020 & rated 85 points: Very good Chianti, great variety and a pleasant taste of barrique! (2247 views)

Full Pull, Full Pull Il Grigio (5/24/2019)
(San Felice Chianti Classico Riserva Il Grigio) Hello friends. We’re back today with a wine that we’ve come to love year in and year out—but perhaps never as much as the 2015 vintage: [Note: see the bottom of the offer for two bonus wines: one a fresh white, the other a well-priced sticky.] Wine Advocate: Copyrighted material withheld. James Suckling: Copyrighted material withheld. The way our list members have embraced Chianti over the past few years is thrilling. Chianti is a terrific value-hunter’s category, but it requires legwork, a lot of frog-kissing to find the princes. And that’s the Full Pull model: we kiss the frogs so you don’t have to. Chianti’s fortunes are improving in the US market, but it’s still walking the line between fashionable and unfashionable, still burdened by the days of swill-in-straw-baskets. But no matter. We know better. Fashion or no, we know that Chianti remains one of the world’s beating hearts of Sangiovese, and that the good bottles are really, really good. As our list members have discovered over the past few years, San Felice is really, really good. The winery sits in the commune of Castelnuovo Berardenga, at an altitude of about 1300ft. Their grounds encompass 650 hectares of grapes, 17,000 olive trees, and an agritourismo. (Full Pull Chianti tour, anyone?) Il Grigio is a selection of 100% Sangiovese from San Felice’s oldest/best vineyard sites. It gets 24 months in the traditional Slavonian botti (and a small portion goes into smaller barrel). These are the key differences between San Felice’s Il Grigio Riserva and their Classico; Classico is usually nervy and elegant, Grigio is usually rich and generous. This is especially true in 2015—one of the warmest vintages in recent years and generous with both quality and quantity. It clocks in at 13.5% and pours a deep ruby red. The nose is layered with black cherry, blackberries, raspberries dried herbs, flower petals, leather, and earth. The palate has a purity of fruit that’s out of this world, balanced expertly with thoughtful, attractive structure. Picture a venn diagram of acidity, tannin, and fruit; Il Grigio lives in the intersection. Now, our bonus wines:

Sangiovese Blend

Sangiovese blend is used in CellarTracker for Italian wines to represent wines predominantly made of Sangiovese and blended with traditional Italian grapes. It is different than SuperTuscan which is a blend of Sangiovese with non-traditional (eg Bordeaux) varieties, often in closer to equal portions. For example, Chianti is at least 80% Sangiovese and will always be listed Sangiovese blend.
