Down to 5 bottles out of a case and still disappointed. Muddled red blend, meh. Nothing memorable but complemented the hearty beef stew. (1475 views) | | Tasted by bcg14 on 11/24/2021 & rated 87 points: Nondescript, lower acid red blend (1212 views) | | Tasted by iamandyc on 11/4/2021 & rated 85 points: Still a mediocre bottle of wine. 3 of 5 consumed with no improvement. Mostly for cooking purposes. (1393 views) | | Tasted by SLOFred on 10/21/2021 & rated 91 points: Made from an Oakville based winery, but with a "California" appellation, this wine is very good. At first on immediate opening, a hit of tannins. Then with about an hour, smooths out to e a great value wine with great fruit and complexity throughout. At $24, a good value. (1237 views) | | Tasted by Joelene on 6/22/2021 & rated 90 points: Nice juice for the $$ (1592 views) | | Tasted by bgdau on 6/16/2021 & rated 92 points: Decanted for 1 hour+ and was rewarded with a wonderful wine especially in light of the price. Drinks more like a $75+ Cal blend. (991 views) | | Tasted by iamandyc on 6/10/2021 & rated 85 points: Disappointing again -- duped by Vivino on this. Bad QPR even at $20. Stash the other 3 hoping they may improve with cellar time. (1120 views) | | Tasted by RockinCabs on 6/8/2021 & rated 85 points: This really should have been a pretty solid wine, especially at a daily drinker price. Unfortunately I find this wine hot, alcoholic and manipulated.
Enters with raspberry, tart cherry, smoke and creamy oak. After the pleasant entry the mid palate is tough as it is juicy, but very oak laden and shows quite a bit of heat. Agree with the lack of depth of flavors. In the end the finish gets quite green. Head scratcher. (1067 views) | | Tasted by iamandyc on 5/26/2021 & rated 88 points: This first bottle didn't wow me but maybe still suffering from bottle shock. Flavorful but body was lacking and no real depth to the flavors. A touch sweet. Did start to improve by the last glass four plus hours later. (1208 views) | | Tasted by Napleswino on 5/5/2021 & rated 93 points: Bought this blind, because it was Philippe Melka for $25. What a steal. 50% Merlot, 27% Petite Sirah, 22% Cabernet Sauvignon, 1% Petit Verdot & Syrah. Decanted appox. 1 hour. Was rewarded with soft fruit on the nose. Palate was soft red and black fruit, dried cranberry, cherry, close, earth. Soft tannins. Finish is long, and complex with layers of cherries, berries - red and black, chocolate and spices. This beautiful wine is a steal. Have ordered more. (872 views) | | Tasted by Nfmds on 3/9/2020 & rated 92 points: Dark fruits in nose—prunes, black raspberry. Full mouthfeel, lingering finish (1390 views) | | Only displaying the 25 most recent notes - click to see all notes for this wine... |
| Apriori Producer websiteRed Blend.USAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Napa Valley Napa Valley Wineries and Wine (Napa Valley Vintners)Napa ValleySt. Helena |
