Tasted by admid on 8/13/2012 & rated 84 points: Ap: Blackish purple
Ar: Dark sweet forrest berries and oak
Full-bodied and very concentrated with some sweetness. Lacking balance and the oak is still too present.
Very good length

I would give it a few more years and hope for the oak to relax a little (1559 views)
Tasted by tonsta on 5/14/2008 & rated 90 points: consistent with last note. (1452 views)
Tasted by tonsta on 5/29/2007 & rated 91 points: No decant. Lovely fragrent nose, the palate was a little 'sweet' at first, but this soon settled down. The abundance of cassis was complimented by slight hints of chocolate and soft tannins. There was also a touch of mint on the finish which I like. Overall, I feel that Yalumba got this blend right. That said, from what I've heard, it'd be difficult to get anything wrong in Coonawarra from the spectacular 2004 vintage! Left a glass in the bottle to see how it evolves....

Day two... Wine had softened further and was drinking beautifully... Drink 2009-2012 (1528 views)

Cabernet-Shiraz Blend

A very popular blend in Australia-particularly from South Australia, where the two varietals work well together. The most famous of these would be the Penfolds Bin 389, considered Australia's most cellared wine. In years gone by this was referred to as "Baby Grange" as some of the wine used barrels from the vintage of Grange.

The 2018 Paternus states only McLaren Vale Shiraz (no Cab Sav).
