Community Tasting Notes (average 91.5 pts. and median of 92 pts. in 21 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by odontalsurgeon on 11/13/2021: Drinking in 2021. Need a fair bit of airing and it is slightly pass the peak (691 views)
Tasted by cliftonng on 9/30/2021 & rated 91 points: The rich nose is floral, with pear and honey. There is a good amount of acidity on the well balanced palate. This already seems to be slightly past its peak; I would drink up. (720 views)
Tasted by Nanda on 1/22/2021 flawed bottle: oxed (1058 views)
Tasted by acyso on 8/30/2020 & rated 93 points: Sunday hangout (socially distanced) (Chicago, IL): Perhaps the most surprising bottle in overdelivering today. The nose is very potent, and there's definitely a hit of oak here. That oak is more prominent on the palate, but it's nicely balanced by the extract and acidity here. This is a bottle that seems to defy the vintage; it's got none of that shapelessness that I so dislike about 2006 white Burgundy. (1861 views)
Tasted by Nanda on 8/30/2020 & rated 92 points: An outstanding bottle with bright pale gold color. Effusive aromatics of pear, apple, honey, minerals and fresh cut florals. Great cut and chiseled fruit on the palate though it still has that rich Meursault character. Delicious. (1020 views)
Tasted by Nanda on 1/27/2019 & rated 92 points: Terrific bottle and just what you want in 10+ year-old Meursault. Full nose with loads of rich white fruit, some florals, some nuts, some spice. Palate is round and rich with a chewy structure. Good, powerful finish. (796 views)
Tasted by acyso on 9/17/2018 flawed bottle: 1996 Jadot Horizontal (Chicago, IL): Corked. (1343 views)
Tasted by Nanda on 9/17/2018 flawed bottle: corked (736 views)
Tasted by Nanda on 5/26/2018 & rated 92 points: Still youthful, rich and primary at age 12. Full nose of rich orchard and stone fruit with good minerality and oak spice. Richly fruited and intense throughout with moderate but juicy acids. Loads of spice. (813 views)
Tasted by zTroy on 9/6/2016 & rated 91 points: Didn't like the 2nd bottle as much. Preferred the Leroy meursualt (1285 views)
Tasted by brianakrin on 1/3/2016 & rated 90 points: underwhwlming. relatively simple straight forward Chard. (1277 views)
Tasted by brianakrin on 9/1/2014 & rated 92 points: Very Nice. Rich. Full, but light on it's feet. Sweet mineral finish;almost cloying. D/H (1730 views)
Tasted by AngryPrez on 8/23/2014 & rated 92 points: Lemony and mineral on the nose, acidic taste balanced well by other flavors - beautiful pale golden color - really liked it and went superbly well with chicken piccata (1666 views)
Tasted by chatters on 4/9/2014: Bouchard Pere Tasting (Ultimo wines basement room): Pronounced intensity of aroma, rich, peach, cream, spice, butter, very slight funky notes, toasted nuts and apricot/marzipan. In the mouth the wine is slightly flabby with flavours of peach and spice…in time the spice comes to the fore and starts to dominate the palate with a touch of alcohol heat. The vintage is revealed through this wine. Quite blowsy new world style. Not what I expected. (2254 views)
Tasted by kosinski on 2/20/2014: Aroma: Spicy roasted nuts and honeysuckle.
Palate: Buttery, spicy Golden Delicious apple. Floral and mineral notes. (940 views)
Tasted by FoodMuse on 12/25/2010 & rated 90 points: Crisp with hints of pear and apple in the nose. Slightly mineral taste with great acidity and citrus notes. (1710 views)
Tasted by honest bob on 9/20/2010 & rated 84 points: Burgundy in Burgundy - the good, the bad and the truly revolting; 9/13/2010-9/20/2010: Initially very mineral scent, softens after 5 minutes in glass to reveal a hint of butter. Soft, slightly sour palate with surprisingly low concentration (=tastes watery). No evident flaws, but no highlights either. Hint of lemon on the short, dry finish. Poor value for 47 Euros au chai. 84P (3482 views)
Tasted by scamhi on 2/22/2010: So I forgot I was going to hold. Sue me.
oak on this bottle was less obtrusive, light lemon and mineral, weightless. very good. (2067 views)
Tasted by Bugsey34 on 5/29/2009 & rated 95 points: Nose is buttery, lemony with minerals.
Mouth is fresh, acidic, soft and buttery but not overly so. Just delicious. (1610 views)
Tasted by scamhi on 5/25/2009: wow this was rich and long but way too much wood at this point. Do not touch for at least 5 years (1981 views)

Burgundy

Les vins de Bourgogne (Bureau interprofessionnel des vins de Bourgogne) (and in English)

Burgundy - The province of eastern France, famous for its red wines produced from Pinot Noir and its whites produced from Chardonnay. (Small of amounts of Gamay and Aligoté are still grown, although these have to be labeled differently.) The most famous part of the region is known as the Cote d'Or (the Golden Slope). It is divided into the Cote de Beaune, south of the town of Beaune (famous principally for its whites), and the Cote de Nuits, North of Beaune (home of the most famous reds). In addition, the Cote Chalonnaise and the Maconnais are important wine growing regions, although historically a clear level (or more) below the Cote d'Or. Also included by some are the regions of Chablis and Auxerrois, farther north.

# 2013 Vintage Notes:
* "2013 is a vintage that 20 years ago would have been a disaster." - Will Lyons
* "low yields and highly variable reds, much better whites." - Bill Nanson
* "Virtually all wines were chaptalised, with a bit of sugar added before fermentation to increase the final alcohol level." - Jancis Robinson

# 2014 Vintage Notes:
"We have not had such splendid harvest weather for many years. This will ensure high quality (fragrant, classy and succulent are words already being used) across the board, up and down the hierarchy and well as consistently from south to north geographically apart from those vineyards ravaged by the hail at the end of June." - Clive Coates

# 2015 Vintage Notes:
"Low yields and warm weather allowed for ample ripeness, small berries and an early harvest. Quality is looking extremely fine, with some people whispering comparisons with the outstanding 2005 vintage. Acid levels in individual wines may be crucial." - Jancis Robinson

# 2017 Vintage Notes:
"Chablis suffered greatly from frost in 2017, resulting in very reduced volumes. As ever, the irony seems to be that what remains is very good quality, as it is in the Côte d’Or. Cooler nights across the region have resulted in higher-than-usual acidity, with good conditions throughout the harvest season allowing for ripe, healthy fruit." - Jancis Robinson

# 2018 Vintage Notes:
"The most successful region for red Burgundy in 2018 was the Côte de Beaune. The weather was ideal in this area, with just enough sunlight and rain to produce perfectly balanced wines naturally." - Vinfolio
