Community Tasting Notes (average 92.2 pts. and median of 92 pts. in 16 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by sean7711 on 4/21/2024 & rated 94 points: This wine is just starting to enter its drinking window. I decanted this for ~3 hours prior to serving with rigatoni and sunday sauce. Sour cherry and great acidity. Best served with food! One of my favorite sangiovese producers. (565 views)
Tasted by Mleh on 4/17/2024 & rated 90 points: This needed about an hour in the decanter to really start to shine and then it was really good. Cherries with a hint of vanilla, some earth and some savory notes too. Really nice structure, with great acidity and just the right amount of tannin to accompany the ribeye we had with it.  Tasted by CWilliam on 12/31/2023 & rated 94 points: Notes from PNP - got better with air as expected.

Bright red color. On nose, savory pipe tobacco, menthol, sweet/sour cherry and salt/iodine note. On palate, medium+ body, medium acidity, medium tannins and a very long, persistent finish. A beautiful wine. 94+/-

I preferred the '16 vintage to this wine but that could be simply the advantage of 2 more years of age. (1795 views)
Tasted by Vinnut on 12/11/2023 & rated 94 points: Dark reddish-purple in color. Full, forward, & fragrant nose of ripe fruit aromas of dark cherries, blackberries & plums with overtones of earthy/dusty & floral notes of violets, dried herbs, spices, minerals, tar, tobacco, dark cocoa, coffee, some cedar & a hint of vanilla in the background. Full to medium-full bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of dark cherries, blackberries & plums with spices, herbs, minerals, cocoa & a slight touch of vanilla. Long lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting & extended airing but should develop further with additional aging. Based on my experience with this wine (notes here), I could imagine it only getting better with ageing & meriting a higher score at that time (95+). An indicative blend of 85% Sangiovese & 15% Malvasia Nera. (1806 views)
Tasted by unionst on 10/9/2023 & rated 92 points: Dark black cherry color, dense and polished, watery rim.
Macerated blueberries, syrupy raspberries, vanilla, eucalyptus, and forrest floor on the nose.
Dark cherry, plum. black olive, apple butter sweetness, lots of acid with a long finish and OJ on the finish.
Big wine, lots of years left. (2616 views)
Tasted by kevinleeht on 9/15/2023 & rated 93 points: Sep 2023 -100 Pointer Tasters showdown (10 wines)

Lifted notes of red cherries, vibrant fruits and juicy on the palate with some earthy mushroom notes with fair amount of complexity. While a solid very enjoyable well made Sangiovese which I would never pass on, I simply can't find the 100 points anywhere. (2559 views)
Tasted by Spth115 on 9/8/2023 & rated 92 points: A very strong and dry Sangiovese wine, which is very dry at first, but then opens up with fruit flavors with time. Excellent with a rich pasta dish! (2446 views)
Tasted by OmiyaDrinker on 7/28/2023 & rated 89 points: Dark, purple appearance. Nose of dark cherry, dark plum, creme du cassis, forest floor. On the palate, hit of blackcurrant, medium+ tannin, medium body, medium+ acid. Sweet fruit particularly on the finish. (2297 views)
Tasted by Isaac L on 5/28/2023 & rated 90 points: Alcohol and tannins prominent. Put on weight on day 2, but the components of this wine still need to come together. Slightly off balance. (2632 views)
Tasted by dhewko on 5/7/2023 & rated 94 points: Wine Spectator rated 94 (2218 views)
Tasted by RussK on 4/16/2023 & rated 91 points: Liked at the WS Grand Tour. 91. Still so beautiful, suave and fragrant. Its the Malvisia Nero. Though this vintage maybe a touch too opulent (for me). (2137 views)
Tasted by Collector1855 on 3/24/2023 & rated 91 points: Italy walkabout tasting, no detailed tasting notes. Complex, dark fruit, clay, spices. (2696 views)
Tasted by peternelson on 3/2/2023 & rated 93 points: Awesome super-chianti (mostly sangiovetto). Classy, elegant, complex. Tre Bicchieri Tasting (2264 views)
Tasted by Momus99 on 2/11/2023: Brief tasting at M&S: Rather a loud wine. Oaked within an inch of its life and super extracted. Seems like it would be fatiguing after more than a few sips. (1978 views)
Tasted by astroman on 12/23/2022: Casual Friday night: This was nothing like what I had a couple of weeks ago. Ripe red fruits, vanish. (2182 views)
Tasted by WineRay05 on 11/8/2022 & rated 94 points: Tasted at winery. Amazing. Nose is spectacular.
Still prefer the 2017, but 2018 is excellent. (2081 views)

Sangiovese Blend

Sangiovese blend is used in CellarTracker for Italian wines to represent wines predominantly made of Sangiovese and blended with traditional Italian grapes. It is different than SuperTuscan which is a blend of Sangiovese with non-traditional (eg Bordeaux) varieties, often in closer to equal portions. For example, Chianti is at least 80% Sangiovese and will always be listed Sangiovese blend.
