  • This wine is just starting to enter its drinking window. I decanted this for ~3 hours prior to serving with rigatoni and sunday sauce. Sour cherry and great acidity. Best served with food! One of my favorite sangiovese producers.

  • This needed about an hour in the decanter to really start to shine and then it was really good. Cherries with a hint of vanilla, some earth and some savory notes too. Really nice structure, with great acidity and just the right amount of tannin to accompany the ribeye we had with it.

  • Notes from PNP - got better with air as expected.

Bright red color. On nose, savory pipe tobacco, menthol, sweet/sour cherry and salt/iodine note. On palate, medium+ body, medium acidity, medium tannins and a very long, persistent finish. A beautiful wine. 94+/-

I preferred the '16 vintage to this wine but that could be simply the advantage of 2 more years of age.

  • Dark reddish-purple in color. Full, forward, & fragrant nose of ripe fruit aromas of dark cherries, blackberries & plums with overtones of earthy/dusty & floral notes of violets, dried herbs, spices, minerals, tar, tobacco, dark cocoa, coffee, some cedar & a hint of vanilla in the background. Full to medium-full bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of dark cherries, blackberries & plums with spices, herbs, minerals, cocoa & a slight touch of vanilla. Long lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting & extended airing but should develop further with additional aging. Based on my experience with this wine (notes here), I could imagine it only getting better with ageing & meriting a higher score at that time (95+). An indicative blend of 85% Sangiovese & 15% Malvasia Nera.

  • Dark black cherry color, dense and polished, watery rim.
Macerated blueberries, syrupy raspberries, vanilla, eucalyptus, and forrest floor on the nose.
Dark cherry, plum. black olive, apple butter sweetness, lots of acid with a long finish and OJ on the finish.
Big wine, lots of years left.
