Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 89.3 pts. and median of 89 pts. in 4 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by Kratzelantz on 1/30/2024 & rated 91 points: Sulfuric notes with a hint of vanilla, 3 layered nose :sulfur, vanilla, oily wood.

High acid, medium mouthfill. Lasts for about 20 seconds in the mouth. Acid gets more intense after it leaves the pallet.

Drinkable now, but can definitely be stored for more years (162 views)
Tasted by lukeintowine on 12/6/2023 & rated 88 points: At the moment, this seems a bit all over the place.
A slightly funky note and a sweetness that is not in swing with the rest of the wine.

Let's see how the wine develops the next couple of days.
Parker (90) and the Suck (92) saw more in this wine than me. (280 views)
Tasted by Ben Christiansen on 11/29/2023: Has that black spice character of Spatburgunder. And under Corvin for a week. (393 views)

#2014 Vintage Notes:
2014 Vintage Report by Terry Theise
2014 Vintage Report by Wine Spectator
"My gut still tells me the Saar (and to some extent) the Ruwer are better overall in 2014 than the more storied areas of the Mosel proper, but those that spent the requisite time living in their middle-Mosel vineyards made some of the most electric and "feathery" Riesling in a long time (maybe the finest in 20 years - yes, it's true!)" - Jon Rimmerman (Of course only a very short historical memory would call the Saar and Ruwer less 'storied' than the middle Mosel - jht)
