Palate is high acid, med alcohol, med plus tannin hints of cherry and sweet tobacco. Some of fruit has dropped out but it's still drinking alright. (892 views) |

Medium bodied, mellow,rather vibrant dark cherries, nice tanginess with good acidic structure, obvious leathery and funky notes. Very classic nicely aged chianti. Singing beautifully now. In the mouth, soft, medium weight, very even, almost silky but fades slightly at the finish. Not quite as bright as some CC but good balance and refreshing. Complex nose: ripe raspberry and redcurrant with balsamic vinegar, anise, cedar, tobacco, and a hint of barnyard. Medium body on the palate: intense raspberry and redcurrant fruit framed by tobacco, anise, and graphite. Core of bright, fresh acidity. Moderate dusty, chalky tannins. | | Tasted by friezu on 11/28/2010 & rated 88 points: Found on sale at Sam's Club today for $9 - a bargain. The cork was almost completely soaked through but luckily the wine was unharmed. Starting to turn slightly brown at the edges. Sangiovese astringency is forefront but this isn't as drying as heavier Chianti's. Bizarre nose of leather, turpentine, and raspberries. The leather and raspberries come through on the palate with some sour cranberry as well. Everything here is nice but would score higher if it was more concentrated. (3731 views) |

At first, cherries on the nose, eventually giving way to some earth and leather, and even a little glycerine. On the palate, tart cherries with a decent level of acid. After all that, a rather short disappointing finish. There are better Chiantis out there at this price point. (4357 views) |

I couldn't get enough of it. The taste is really good, but does not quite keep up with the aroma. There was good balance and enough fruit to keep the finish long, but it was not as sweet and rounded as a truly outstanding Chianti. I am glad I have a few more. The son deemed it an 88.
