Tasted by yasha on 7/29/2012 & rated 88 points: nice summer wine, light and citrusy (2200 views)
Tasted by Matt Scott on 7/7/2012 & rated 89 points: 2008 Hall Night (My house): A straw-like colour. Citrus, mineral and Japanese pear. A stoney finish, that is medium in length. Bright and tasty. Drink now - 2014. (3263 views)
Tasted by carlsport on 5/14/2011 & rated 87 points: Wife - drank well at Melting Pot - more like a chardonnay. (3165 views)
Tasted by carlsport on 1/2/2011 & rated 84 points: Wife and I had during a wine tasting. Both thought it was OK, though I enjoyed it more. It grew on the wife over the evening (after the tasting). Score is 87/80 me/wife. Fairly complex flavors to a sauvignon blanc. (3476 views)
Tasted by billme on 12/20/2010 & rated 90 points: Smooth nice tasting wine. Drank with appetizers of cheese, crackers. (3739 views)
Tasted by MattMauldin on 10/27/2010 & rated 88 points: A bright straw to gold in color. A bouquet of apple, lemon, mineral, and toasted almonds. Consistent flavors on the palate. Creamy on the front-palate with notes of lemon zest. Gains complexity across the middle of the palate, adding notes of minerals and green apple, before finishing with light toast and spice. Well-integrated acidity, this drinks crisp but is smooth with nice weight. Slightly abrupt on the finish. Overall a fine Napa Sauvignon Blanc. (2218 views)
Tasted by russdan60 on 9/16/2010 & rated 92 points: Easily one of our favorite Sauvignon Blanc's. Just re-ordered tonight for the umpteenth time! Beautiful with any seafood or white meat. (2075 views)
Tasted by slywka7 on 9/12/2010 & rated 88 points: Light crisp and refreshing with a nice acidity. (362 views)
Tasted by soplay on 7/29/2010: Not good (2272 views)
Tasted by McMalbec on 7/25/2010 & rated 89 points: Nice tasting summer wine. Matched well with southern fried chicken at picnic. (2370 views)
Tasted by RockinCabs on 7/11/2010 & rated 88 points: Nose: Lemon, Grapefruit, Melon and Grass. Palate: Builds from entry to finish. Lemon, lime and grass getting slightly more full. Finish: Loaded with citrus fruit and slight salty note. Quite nice for a sipper. (2371 views)
Tasted by momat on 5/30/2010 & rated 90 points: fruity, light great summer wine (2663 views)
Tasted by jrslhughes on 4/17/2010 & rated 92 points: One of the best Sauvignon Blancs we've ever had. (2576 views)
Tasted by awinestory on 2/12/2010 & rated 85 points: color ... lemon yellow, lemon highlights
nose: med+, a tobacco component, hay, somewhat vegative rather than peach or citrus
palate: dry, RA fairly low ... perhaps 2 grams per litre, acid is med+ tannin is low (grape skin? lees? oak -- what is giving it weight and substance?)
flavors now include peach with undertones of something like oak, lees ...
finish is med +
finish is long, fruit is concentrated, some complexity of flavor, good length, meant to be drunk young and will not age (2699 views)
Tasted by awinestory on 2/6/2010 & rated 80 points: Pale lemon color with lemon highlights ... a bit more goldish than other SB
nose: med intensity, very strong aroma of yellow grapefruit rind and pith ... curious to know if oak or lees
palate: dry, RS is (guessing) 3 grams per litre (not at all sweet). Acid is med+ Tannin zero. Appears to be SS fermentation and no oak and no malo
finish is med. Flavors include very strong yellow grapefruit, med_ body, very substantial wine in body to pair with a main dish such as whitefish, sole, etc.

Very concentrated flavors suggesting good selection of grapes, and a vineyard in a very cool area picked at the optimum time ... (2699 views)
Tasted by smphelps on 12/17/2009 & rated 87 points: The Kathryn Hall 2006 Cabernet is the #20 wine on the Spectator 2009 top 100. This is nowhere in that category but is a nice servicable lightweight Sauvignon Blanc. Pale, almost white with light grass and citrus. (1091 views)
Tasted by Tim Heaton on 10/9/2009: Pop n pour. Clean notes of citrus and tropical aromas with a medium-bodied palate and an average core of acidity. The palate is more like Chard than Sauvignon Blanc, but things never get too out of balance. A Sauvignon Blanc that will pair with Lobster? David Ramey's influence here is pretty obvious. (2938 views)
Tasted by Hershey in CA on 5/14/2009 & rated 85 points: N: guava, papaya, pineapple. Carried through on palate, with med++ acidity, and alcoholic on finish. 14.4% threw off the balance of this wine (3025 views)

Hall

Producer website
Since first working in her family’s Mendocino vineyards, Kathryn Hall dreamed of a place to showcase fine wines alongside expressive art and masterful architecture. Now, Kathryn and Craig Hall are creating an unrivalled destination
in the Napa Valley—where winemaking excellence meets contemporary design to celebrate life and inspire the senses. In 2005, Craig and Kathryn Hall unveiled a state-of-the-art winery amid the legendary Sacrashe Vineyard in the hills
of Rutherford that is dedicated to making single vineyard and limited-production wines. The Halls acquired the historic Bergfeld winery in St. Helena in 2003, and are merging history and innovation with the completion of California's
First Winery to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) Gold Certification.

HALL’s estate vineyards encompass more than five hundred acres of classic Bordeaux varietals; Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Sauvignon Blanc.
As winegrowers, the Halls have a strong respect for the environment and a commitment to cutting-edge vineyard technology to yield the highest quality grapes.
Through meticulous attention to detail in the vineyards, HALL wines are able to express the unique and diverse character of Napa Valley’s soils and climate.

Sauvignon Blanc

Varietal Character

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
