Tasted by Vino Me on 9/9/2023 & rated 97 points: 375ml bottle. Sparkly clear gold color. Wonderful creamy tropical nose. Almost the sweetness of a dessert wine. So rich, so deep, so unctuous. A treasure at 24 years old. Can't imagine this has ever drank better. Notes of candied pears, pineapple and mango. Soft finish with just enough acidity. First time I have had the 1999. It was better had the 2002 and almost as good as the magnificent 2001. Why don't I buy more Gunderlochs? 97 points. (441 views)
Tasted by JimVan on 12/18/2009 & rated 90 points: Delicious, gulpable but complex riesling with a yeasty nose at opening, then showing apricots, peaches, pineapple, stones, and diesel, with an unctuous and sweet taste that is seamless, and shows the complexity of a good German riesling. My wife said " Ah, you opened something good tonight." The sweetness will probably drop out a bit in a few years, and it might gain even more complexity, but it is quite good at the moment. It doesn't reach the heights this vineyard and producer can deliver, but it is very good nonetheless. Long finish, nice acidity too. (3008 views)
Tasted by mdavis on 2/19/2005: February Portland,OR Tasting Group - 2002 Burgundy + more: This wine had a lot of yeast in the nose and it was so strong and it was hard for me to get over. The palate was really nice though and had good complexity. Hard to drink next to the Weinbach VT. #4 of 4 of the flight. (6086 views)

#2014 Vintage Notes:
2014 Vintage Report by Terry Theise
2014 Vintage Report by Wine Spectator
"My gut still tells me the Saar (and to some extent) the Ruwer are better overall in 2014 than the more storied areas of the Mosel proper, but those that spent the requisite time living in their middle-Mosel vineyards made some of the most electric and "feathery" Riesling in a long time (maybe the finest in 20 years - yes, it's true!)" - Jon Rimmerman (Of course only a very short historical memory would call the Saar and Ruwer less 'storied' than the middle Mosel - jht)
