| Community Tasting Notes (average 87.9 pts. and median of 88 pts. in 12 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by UMhemePA on 1/7/2013 & rated 89 points: straw color yellow, nose much better from the last bottle, interesting nose, white bordeaux like, firm mouth feel with hints of butter. Good oak, not overbearing. Past prime by months....maybe. (2009 views) | | Tasted by UMhemePA on 6/15/2012: golden color, absolutely no nose, great mouth feel with light flavors. apricot, vanilla, butter, maybe too much oak but not by much. good bottle for its age. (2023 views) | | Tasted by clericjohnbrown on 6/23/2010 & rated 87 points: I liked this wine a lot, but I'm also a sucker for the Rhone white varietals, particularly Marsanne and Roussanne, and the blend of the three primary white varietals is heaven. Still quite light in its color, opens immediately with honey followed by delicate aromas of figs and autumn leaves with a touch of ginger. A little beeswax chewiness on the palate with nice acidity on the back end and a nice clean finish. Should continue to evolve for a couple years more, but is perfect right now. (2471 views) | | Tasted by Caeldavis on 12/21/2008: Greater than the sum of its parts. The longer it sits in the glass, the more pear and apple aromas reveal themselves. After sustained aeration, flinty mineral characteristics develop as well. On the palate, pears and lilacs fold into flavors of apricot and ginger. By eliminating Chardonnay from the blend this vintage, Blancaneaux is now reminiscent of the great white Rhone wines of France, elegant and dramatic. (Varietals: 42% Marsanne 32% Rousanne, 26% Viognier)(ALC: 14.1 %) Food Pairings: Proscuitto and melon, broiled swordfish, roast turkey. Interesting blend a bit dryer than I would have expected. The aprocot/ pear on the finish was the highlight (1727 views) | | Tasted by johnwine on 1/15/2006 & rated 88 points: This Californian Rhone wine has a pale straw color. The nose is full of wildflowers, citrus and honey. There is a hint of orange or tangerine on the nose. The taste has citrusy fruit, honey, fig and tangerine. It is a beautiful Rhone styled wine. (1062 views) | | Tasted by Tom_B on 6/15/2005 & rated 91 points: This wine is straw colored with a hint of green, clear, almost brilliant. The nose is full of ripe, luscious pears, a little apple and apricot. Medium in body, the apricot shows more on the taste. (935 views) | | Tasted by popebob on 3/27/2005: Interesting blend with Viognier, Marsanne and Rousanne grapes. The tasting note mention pear, apricot, and ginger, the ginger was very noticable. The flavor changed with time in the glass to mineral. This one is not for everyone but a unique wine I'd give it a 88 (1879 views) |
| White Rhone BlendA white wine containing two or more Rhône varieties, including: Viognier, Marsanne, Roussanne, Clairette, Grenache Blanc and Bourboulenc. USAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Napa Valley Napa Valley Wineries and Wine (Napa Valley Vintners)Rutherford Rutherford,
