Community Tasting Notes (average 84.6 pts. and median of 86 pts. in 8 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by wineshlub on 4/4/2018 & rated 87 points: Popped and poured. Aroma of olives and menthol. Laid back flavors of black fruit, earth. Short finish. Simple, good backbone, maybe a little tired. Correct, decent for the price, but nothing special. Drink up. (1011 views)
Tasted by AJ72 on 7/14/2015 & rated 85 points: Not too bad for what it is does show a touch of herbal character. (1788 views)
Tasted by Jack Cranley on 5/30/2011 & rated 86 points: Very nice complex and intriguing nose that offers dusty cellar, slight funkiness, jammy fruits, black pepper, and earthy minerality. Unfortunately that complexity did not translate to the palate where the taste fell a little flat. I would say it was even a little bland. The powdery tannins were nice but it just wasn't giving up much in the way of flavor or finish. Drinkable and not offensive, but just not memorable or special. (3475 views)
Tasted by Traxx on 3/12/2011 & rated 86 points: Incredibly peppery nose, almost too much. Nice wine, not going to make anyone fall in love with the region. (3482 views)
Tasted by Hugh57 on 11/22/2010: Drank with Stu, Mary, and Mike. Dinner: lamb steak, roasted root vegetables, sauteed vegetables. This is a Syrah from the Northern Rhone. (3729 views)

Syrah

Varietal article (Wikipedia) | (Wines Northwest)

Note that some producers in the Northern Rhone distinguish between simply Syrah and "Serine", the latter described as ‘an ancient clone of Syrah, the berries of which are more oval-shaped and less deeply pigmented than Syrah’ by producer Tardieu-Laurent.
