Tasted by netcommsyn on 8/16/2013 & rated 88 points: Pulled this bottle out of my cellar thoroughly expecting it to be a tired old wine destined for the kitchen drain. What a pleasant surprise- very little brown at the edges, fruit and acidity still there. Paired quite well with pasta and even lasted to then third day under vacuum. Given the obvious ratings inflations since 2003, I awarded it an 88 for longevity. (2105 views)
Tasted by Chrisinroch on 5/6/2008 & rated 86 points: Nice simple Cotes du rhone. Lots of Cherry pie filling on the front end. Nice, simple drinker alone or with food (3171 views)
Tasted by jonr on 3/22/2008 & rated 80 points: This was a 2001, by mistake, it had got a lot of fallout and lost almost all of its fruit. Worked well along with roasted lamb.
Has to whatch out fore younger vintage i stock. (3115 views)
Tasted by JudgeMental on 9/23/2007 & rated 74 points: The heavy acidity I experienced wore off after several hours sitting in a decanter, but still the tannins are as someone else said edgy. Nose is a bit abrasive, cant exactly wrap my finger around the scent. Geez, I just made it sound terrible, it really isnt, just not a bottle I will repurchase. (3246 views)
Tasted by bhardie on 10/6/2006 & rated 88 points: Mineral and white pepper. this is definately rhone syrah. Has nice black raspberry fruit, smoke and wet stone. A 20 second meaty finish with good acidity and a bit of tannin. This is a nice cdr for $11. Should evolve nicely for a few years. (3623 views)
Tasted by alandf on 9/15/2006 & rated 74 points: Thin, boring, used for cooking eventually. Life is too short for this. (2332 views)
Tasted by DanSm on 8/27/2006 & rated 79 points: Unimpressed. Of all the wonderful wines now available in the world, someone else can drink Cotes-du-Rhone red wine! (2342 views)
Tasted by docjavadude on 7/23/2006 & rated 87 points: Benefitted from time in the glass and the bottle opening up. This is a very drinkable and enjoyable wine. Medium bodied, aromas of red fruits, cardamom, and light smoke. Crushed berries, hints of new oak, and a subtle earthiness in the mouth with a lingering finish that, while starting with nice spiciness, turned somewhat unidimensional. The tannins were a bit sharp until it opened up. Overall a pleasant, good-value wine. (2007 views)
Tasted by NobleRot on 7/6/2006 & rated 86 points: Dark purple, almost opaque in color. On the nose, currant and cassis, with a little bit of heat. On the palate, this wine was a little acidic with some angular tannins. I would presume this was an off bottle. My last one. Whew. (2523 views)
Tasted by Ben Andersen on 5/7/2006: $13.99 full retail. Oxidative / raisin notes dominate the nose. Smells like a wine that has been open for days, though it was just opened. Raisin and prune with little else happening on the palate. Unpleasant. (RV 9001**) (1857 views)
Tasted by NobleRot on 9/2/2005 & rated 87 points: Decent. (2284 views)

Les Vignerons d'Estézargues

Producer website
Les Vignerons d’Estézargues is a co-operative in the small town of Estézargues located to the south and west of Avignon. The co-op is truly unique in the wine world. All over France the co-ops still play a very important role in the production and sale of wine. They receive grapes from members and then make wine from them in large batches from many different vineyards blended together with the focus on producing wine in quantity rather than quality. Les Vignerons d’Estézargues takes a fundamentally different approach; starting in 1995 the ten different growers in this co-op began to vinify their wine separately and make single cuvées from their best plots. On the heels of the single cuvée project, Les Vignerons d’Estézargues began to practice natural winemaking – possibly one of the only co-ops in the world to do so. They use no cultured yeasts, no filtering, no fining and no enzymes during vinification or aging and only add a small amount of SO2 at bottling

Red Rhone Blend

Read about the different grapes used to produce red and white Rhone wines
On CellarTracker, Red Rhone Blend is the term for a wine consisting of two or more of the traditional 13 Southern Rhone grape varieties. Typically it's the Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre or Cinsault grapes, but can also contain the Muscardin, Counoise, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Picpoul, Roussanne, Terret Noir, Picardan or Vaccarese grapes.

A 'food' wine. Lacking pretension and intended for local consumption with local cuisine. Lacks the 'high' notes on a Bordeaux, more earthy and sharper so often a better partner to meat dishes with a sauce.
