Introduction

Our March gathering was unusually intimate as half of us were away on travel or otherwise indisposed. Instead of the scheduled blinded BYO, we decided to just bring a few bottles and order off the menu.

Flight 1 - Aperitif (1 Note)

Flight 2 - First and Main Courses (2 Notes)

  • 2005 Marc Colin et Fils Saint-Aubin 1er Cru En Montceau Blanc 91 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Saint-Aubin 1er Cru

Yellow color. Beautiful nose of white fruits, minerality, slight hazelnut. Palate of apple, pear initially with a tropical element on the finish. Lovely minerality and acidity. Great balance overall. Very enjoyable.

  • 1989 Château Montrose 94 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Estèphe

Youthful, deep ruby with some bricking at the edges. Nose of blackberry, cassis, pencil shavings, wet stones, leather, some mushroom. Similar on the palate with good density. Nice finish. This was a lovely, mature Bordeaux. Paired with a mushroom, prosciutto risotto.
