Tasted blind. Showing some age around the halo. Smelled great. Has a honey smell to it. Kelli said molasses. You can tell there was a lot of jammy fruit at one time. This still has nice acidity, the tannins are resolved. Smells like an old world wine but you could tell there was lots of fruit behind it. This has held up surprisingly well. I really liked this.
Very soft dark fruits with very fine well integrated tannins. Lots of vanilla - actually a little too much for my taste. The varietals mix is almost exactly the same as the Merlot bottling but I think I prefer the Merlot a little more.
Tasted blind (popped and poured): Initial nose of tar and sweet tobacco. Dark fruits. I immediately guessed chile or argentina. As it opened the tar blew off and I guessed Cab. Still lots of dark fruit, tobacco, very faint bell pepper. Nice tannins and acidity. I disagree that this needs to be consumed now. There is nice structure and lots of fruit. At $30 bucks I think this is pretty nice and certainly worth the price. Tasty but not as good as the 04 Cliff Lede Claret we had after it.

Smells nice. Tropical fruits but too sweet for my taste.
