Introduction

The Ravenswood was suprising good. The Cliff Lede was everyone's favorite and a great wine for $29.

  • 1997 Ravenswood Zinfandel Old Vine Sonoma County

    USA, California, Sonoma County

Tasted blind. Showing some age around the halo. Smelled great. Has a honey smell to it. Kelli said molasses. You can tell there was a lot of jammy fruit at one time. This still has nice acidity, the tannins are resolved. Smells like an old world wine but you could tell there was lots of fruit behind it. This has held up surprisingly well. I really liked this.

  • 2006 Chappellet Cyril's Cuvée Limited Release

    USA, California, Napa Valley

Very soft dark fruits with very fine well integrated tannins. Lots of vanilla - actually a little too much for my taste. The varietals mix is almost exactly the same as the Merlot bottling but I think I prefer the Merlot a little more.

  • 2005 Columbia Crest Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve

    USA, Washington, Columbia Valley

Tasted blind (popped and poured): Initial nose of tar and sweet tobacco. Dark fruits. I immediately guessed chile or argentina. As it opened the tar blew off and I guessed Cab. Still lots of dark fruit, tobacco, very faint bell pepper. Nice tannins and acidity. I disagree that this needs to be consumed now. There is nice structure and lots of fruit. At $30 bucks I think this is pretty nice and certainly worth the price. Tasty but not as good as the 04 Cliff Lede Claret we had after it.

  • 2004 Cliff Lede Claret

    USA, California, Napa Valley

I agree with Milwaukeewino. This was really good and better than I remember. Very nice and a great QPR at $29 - wish I had bought a bunch more.
