Disappointing compared to the 05. While I didn't expect the 05 quality it really feel short. Funk on the nose with minerals and raspberries. A thin finish and not concentrated. A pass even if it was under $20.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny

Good color. Expressive nose with scorched earth, cherry, mineral and mushrooms. The palate is also intense and balances the earth and fruit nicely. Good acidity and a medium finish. Solid effort!

(4/6/2010)
Classic California Pinot with spices, strawberry and floral on the nose. A perfume quality is evident on the nose and more so on the palate. Medium finish and drinking well right now. At $21 a bottle a most have for an everyday Pinot.
Classic shell, lemon, and minerals dominate the nose and palate. On the palate I picked up some sour apple. Good acidity and medium finish. Enjoy with some seafood!
Bursting with cherry, truffles, strawberries and minerals. Palate is matching up with the nose and it is balanced across the board. Medium finish. A bit different then 2 previous bottles but solid wine.
France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape

Medium color. Funk nose, spice, raspberries and floral. The palate is showing intial funk, spice, and floral notes. Medium finish. Not decanted and needs some cellar time to show its stuff.
Some heat on the nose. Spice, floral and strawberry on the nose. The palate shows some intensity and this wine is a bit off balance. If it was $25 I would buy but at $50 I am looking elsewhere.
Cherry, oak, vanilla and spice on the nose. A tannic wine at this time and needs some time to settle down. Much better then previous vintages and I can see it improving in 5 years time.
Light purple. Nose spice, cherry, oak and vanilla. On the palate spices, cherry, floral and toasted oak. Medium finish and plenty of flavor. This is one of my favorite Malbecs under $25.
Dough, lemon and chalk on the nose. Good acidity and the palate features dough, lemons, chalk and minerals. I like the finish and it is a nice $30 N.V.
Solid nose with cherry, spice, smoke and oak. Good concentration on this wine and plenty of tannins to age another decade. Medium finish and needs decanting.
Another winner from Chappellet. Nice fruit forward nose with cherry, plum and spices. On the palate is shows plenty of flavor without anything over the top. Some sweet tannins emerge on the finish.
