• 2009 Leyda Riesling Costero Viña Leyda 82 Points

  Chile, San Antonio Valley, Leyda Valley

  Aromatic, a little mineral, flinty maybe; eventually there's a strong gooseberry smell.
  Bone dry, lemony apple, quite high acidity, refreshing, simple.

• 2008 Wakefield Riesling 88 Points

  Australia, South Australia, Mount Lofty Ranges, Clare Valley

  Aromatic, spicy fruit, some minerality and some floral notes, quite complex.
  Dry, ripe fruit, mineral with a good balance, refreshing.

• 2007 Klein Constantia Riesling 87 Points

  South Africa, Coastal Region, Cape Peninsula, Constantia

  A lot of sulphur here so the nose needed patience but this was rewarded with diesel notes and then some luscious fruity aromas of white peaches.
  Oily in the mouth, not a lot of fruit, maybe a bit of grapefruit, quite refreshing, at its peak.

• 2006 Cloudy Bay Riesling 91 Points

  New Zealand, South Island, Marlborough

  A nice nose, a little smoky, diesel, rich, slightly fruity.
  Rich, sweet attack but dry, beautiful balance, really refreshing, lovely.

  Austria, Niederösterreich, Wachau

  Fruity, peppery, quite interesting, heady.
  Dry but the attacke is sweet, high acidity, not very fruity, lovely smooth mid palate.

  Luxembourg, Moselle, Moselle Luxembourgeoise

  Delicate nose, very pleasant, some complexity here, fruit and flowers.
  Mineral, citrus fruit, some complex creamy notes, good acidity, great balance, a lot of life to come.

• 2008 Domaine Zinck Riesling Eichberg 93 Points

  France, Alsace, Alsace Grand Cru

  You need patience with this nose, very delicate diesel and fruity notes mark the promise of what's to come.
  This is clearly infanticide when it hits the mouth, it's very dry, good balance, smooth almost sweet mid palate. Come back to it in 5 - 10 years.

• 1988 J.B. Becker Eltviller Sonnenberg Riesling Spätlese 90 Points

  Germany, Rheingau

  Clearly a developed nose, lovely honeyed notes, lemon curd.
  Still some fruit here, a little sweetness, lovely, probably best as an aperitif or with mild cheese.
