Luci Ancora/ St. Paul

An outstanding wine dinner was put together by Luci Ancora and Mark Vlossak and Thomas Liquors. Anytime you can put together courses to pair with Mark's wines you are in business. Out the door for a bit over $100 with tax and tip this is one of the better annual wine dinners in the Twin Cities.
The Shea and Momtazi were wines of the night and I believe the Momtazi 08 will be a 96+ wine in a few years.
2008 St. Innocent Pinot Gris Vitae Springs Vineyard 90 Points
USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley
Floral, chalk, orange peel, minerals and tropical fruit. Stainless steel fermentation. Really a nice starter wine served with Pacific red shrimp.

2009 St. Innocent Pinot Blanc Freedom Hill Vineyard 87 Points
USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley
Not as good as the 08 version. A little barrel fermenting. Lemon, minerals, orange peel, subtle oak and spice. This wine is a little on the bitter side and served too cold to start but got better as it warmed up.

2008 St. Innocent Pinot Noir Freedom Hill Vineyard 92 Points
USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley
Medium purple. Nose of smoke, raspberries, spice, cranberry and cedar. Good acidity and the finish picks up a floral note. This is ripe and complex wine that should improve with some cellaring time.

2007 St. Innocent Pinot Noir Zenith Vineyard 90 Points
USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Eola - Amity Hills
Nice overall. Earth, mineral, cranberry and spice on the nose. The palate picks up coffee and strawberry. Medium finish but lacks concentration of some of the other St. Innocent 07s.

2007 St. Innocent Pinot Noir Shea Vineyard 94 Points
USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Yamhill-Carlton
It is hard to believe there is a St. Innocent wine from 07 to rival the White Rose but this is it. Aromatic with cherry, spice, pepper, floral and cedar. Multi-layered wine and really a long finish for an Oregon Pinot. Outstanding wine!

2008 St. Innocent Pinot Noir Momtazi Vineyard 94 Points
USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, McMinnville
A super wine and dark in color. Pefume, coffee, spice, strawberry and vanilla. Concentrated wine and really balanced. This wine is drinking great right now and should improve and contend for a top 10 of the vintage.
