Last Tuesday I got together with some friends to taste some Champagne. The wines were consumed blind over a couple of hours. Breads and cheeses were served.
And for dessert with sugar cookies:
NV Agrapart Champagne Les 7 Crus Brut 90 Points
France, Champagne
Very nice. This was the most straightforward of the group. White gold in color. Nice mousse. A nose of half baked dough. Smooth. Seltzer with nice acidity. Open and easy. This would work well with almost any food.

NV Marc Hébrart Champagne Premier Cru Blanc de Blancs Brut 92 Points
France, Champagne, Champagne Premier Cru
White gold in color. The nose shows some seltzer. Full bodied. Excellent texture. Nice acidity. Complex and much better on the palate than the nose. Long finish. This is an outstanding value at around $30! It has loads of life left to develop but is delicious now.

2002 Pierre Gimonnet & Fils Champagne Premier Cru Extra Brut Oenophile 91 Points
France, Champagne, Champagne Premier Cru
Very good although I might have hoped for a bit more considering the vintage. Golden/white gold in color. A very nice nose. This is big and toasty. Softer on the palate though. Slightly bitter citrusy notes. Long finish. This is very good but at $55, this underperformed. Maybe it needs some time, but I don't think so.

2000 Gaston Chiquet Champagne Special Club Brut 93 Points
France, Champagne
The groups WOTN and mine. At around $40, a great buy! Golden in color. Big nose with seltzer and some lime notes. A hint of sweetness on the palate, but complex and mineral driven for the most part. Nice balance. Complex. Long finish. And, delicious. Stupid bottle shape though.
