France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet
Color: Golden yellow Smell: Flint, mineral, oxidative, chewable vitamin, pear, floral notes Taste: Lemon, green apple, lime, quince, minerals, Overall: Acid+, medium bodied and complete with hints of oxidative notes that are interesting without being detracting…
Color: canary yellow Smell: butter scotch, green banana, Taste: lemon, kiwi, star fruit, Overall: Acid, medium bodied with brisk acidity and an easy drinking wine. Not overly complex, but still good
Color: canary yellow Smell: muddled scents that are hard to pick up outside of the oak Taste: yellow apples, lemon, oak, vanilla, oak, minerals Overall: disjointed and feeling slightly out of line… PASS for now. Hopefully this improves with time...but right now it's not in a good place.
Color: Deep violet Smell: black pepper, dark fruits, Taste: Dark Fruits, tomato leaf granite, charcoal, Overall: Ripe fruit, Acid+, tannin+, this just needs time...it will be something quite special in another few years...but it's just too much right now to enjoy without food. However, given that, it could become something special in time
Color: Pale rusted ruby Smell: Band-aids, tart red fruits Taste: tart red fruits Overall: Weird volatile acidity, tart red fruits, and off to me…flawed, I'm just not sure how.
Color: Amber with a hint of brick at the core. Smell: Christmas cake, caramel, rasin, apples, fig, red candied apple Taste: Chocolate covered cherries, liquor-filled chocolates, red and blue fruits, with hints of cigar and cedar. Overall: An outstanding example that was exciting to taste and the experience was more important than the quality of the wine. With Chocolate mousse this really just seemed to fit...
Beautiful hints of baked apples, stone fruit, star fruit, and asian pear on the palate...complex nose of baked breads and minerals...simply lovely. Not as vibrant as the last bottle that I had, but this was still complex and interesting. If I had more I'd be drinking them in the near future...
