Introduction

Five CTers gathered together in Las Vegas for three nights of fun in Sin City. Friday afternoon we gathered together for blending trials with smigdiggler of Dacalier to do some blending trials (I apologize smig if I shouldn't have said anything!). After finishing the trials (my personal favorite was the 50% Inkgrade, 40% Black Sears and 10% Coombsville closely followed by the 50%/50% Black Sears/Coombsville) we shared four bottles from our overflowing stash of wines before dinner that evening.

Flight 1 (4 Notes)

  • 2006 Sine Qua Non The Hoodoo Man 93 Points

    USA, California

    WIML93-94+/-

Tasted non blind. Opened and served immediately.

Yellow color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of toast, lemon oil, brown spice, vanilla and yellow pears. Flavors of lemon oil, brown spices, yellow pears, yellow apples and a bit of minerals on the medium to long finish. Medium acidity, medium to full bodied. Drink or hold. I'd drink. Why not?

  • 1996 Sine Qua Non Against the Wall 93 Points

    USA, California, Central Coast

    WIML93+

Tasted non blind. Opened and served immediately.

Garnet to dark garnet color in the glass, slightly dusty looking. Nose of fertilizer, white pepper, underbrush, black cherries and black berries. Flavors of black berries, black cherries, raspberries, plums and dried herbs. Slightly tart acidity, medium to firm tannins, full bodied. Drink or hold. I'd likely drink. Although more full bodied than an aged Cote Rotie the overall performance seemed very Cote Rotie like in nature.
