Introduction

At Emirates Golf Club.

Flight 1 (4 Notes)

  • 2004 Chateau Musar Rosé 87 Points

    Lebanon, Bekaa Valley

Light salmon, vibrant and sparkling despite 7 years of age. Medium nose of spice, oak, and some red fruit in the distance, austere. Dry, high acidity, stern upon attack, aromas of apples, yellow plum, pepper, red cherries, dried fruit and oak. Complex, stiff and not easy going, never really opened up. Manly structured wine, with medium finish, too little fruit for my liking to give enjoyment, definitely it needs food (like the quail we had).

  • 1990 Chateau Musar Blanc 90 Points

    Lebanon, Bekaa Valley

Deep copper towards amber, brandy color, intentionally oxidized. Medium (+) very expressive nose, orange peel, floral, honey, herbs. Dry, high acidity, driven by secondary flavours, bitter orange-marmalade, oak, honey, nuts, some dried apple. Medium body, very complex and ethereal, good texture yet stiff. Super dry finish with little fruit. Impressive and an unusual experience, this is not subtle.

  • 2000 Chateau Musar 89 Points

    Lebanon, Bekaa Valley

Deep ruby, light rim narrow legs. Medium (-) nose of spice, small red fruits and a huge barnyard. Medium dry, medium acidity, high alcohol, medium (+) tannins. Fruit are overpowered by the wet horse, undergrowth aromas (brett?). Liquorice, chocolate, dark cherries, earth. Medium body with rich texture, complex and layered, chalky tannins. Long lingering finish. Rustic character and overpowering barnyard ding the score, is this balanced?

  • 2002 Chateau Musar 89 Points

    Lebanon, Bekaa Valley

Deep ruby, vibrant. What a difference with the 2000 tasted previously. No barnyard to be smelled, clean, fruit-driven with ripe cherries and plums, oak supports instead of dominates. Dry, medium acidity, dark cherry, meat, chocolate, white pepper. High tannins, silky texture, rich mouth-feel, medium body, rich wine with long finish yet not completely satisfying, chalky tannins need more integration,
