Flight 1 (5 Notes)

  • 1996 Château Pape Clément 91 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan

Sweet earthy nose with black fruit, tobacco, pencil lead. Mature velvety taste, tarty black and red fruit, plums, round tannins, medium finish. Very good, traditional Bordeaux.

  • 1994 Château Angélus 91 Points

France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru

Red fruit nose, taste with red fruit and some black fruit, not a blockbuster but reserved classy taste, medium bodied, lovely almost a bit Burgundy like, nice soft mouthfeel. You empty this bottle in no time. Only drawback are the tannins that are round but appear a bit harsh at the end.

  • 1998 Château Montrose 91 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Estèphe

Dark fruit nose, a bit new wordly. Sweet taste, full bodied, blackcurrant, a bit oaky, round, soft tannins, more modern style of Bordeaux. Needs some more years in cellar. Very good.

  • 1996 Château Cos d'Estournel 94 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Estèphe

Nose still a bit tight, red fruit, some graphite. Taste very intense, cassis, peppery, full bodied but very straight and spicy, linear, beautifull detailed. Very complex. Best wine of the evening.
