France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Montrachet Grand Cru
The cleanest and freshest bottle of the three, lovely balance of minerals and honey, beautifully integrated oak, light for a Montrachet, lemony, good length. Good but not great.
Not an obvious wine. Wonderful, classic bouquet, deep and cedary, blackcurrant and strawberry, develops a floral touch; elegant and perfectly balanced, creamy, seamless structure, feminine but layered, long, a supremely stylish wine and a beautiful 1985.
Deep colour; deep and rich, intense and complex, elegant and stylish, candied tangerine, opens up beautifully, exceptionally long. A really great wine.
Bottled 2006. Very oaky, deep, austere like a Coliseo Amontillado, needs at least two days in the decanter, dry and impenetrable, impressive, challenging even but certainly not charming. Sercial-like acidity. Immense potential.
1988 Krug Champagne Vintage Brut 98 Points
France, Champagne
Supreme elegance, mushrooms, nuts, perfection. A really great wine. Much more beautiful than the hefty 1990.

1992 François Raveneau Chablis 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre 92 Points
France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru
Chablis-and-a-half, as Michael Broadbent put it. Wonderful minerality, very lively, opens up beautifully, hint of hay, a classic.

At peak, honey, minerals, intense and elegant, is it slightly maderised?
